Old Court Hotel & Apartments, hotel in Coleford

A relaxing Elizabethan Manor House which maintains its character and architectural features, with a great oak door giving access to the reception.

The staff here were wonderful! From the moment we walked in, Tori was the epitome of a warm welcome. As a last-minute booking, we truly hadn't been expecting too much, so were completely blown away with the history of this place. Kevin, Milly and the lady who had worked with horses (can't remember her name now..), all of them were just marvelous. The gardens here are also beautiful - just what we needed after a full day of hiking and exploring.

Punch House Monmouth, hotel in Coleford

This charming traditional coaching inn is a Grade II historical registry listed building and still retains many of its beautiful original features, such as exposed wooden beams.

Dog friendly is an understatement, they were so accommodating to us and our rather filthy dog having walked Offa's Dyke that day. Lovely big room and enjoyed the bath!

Very mixes businesses. Cafe was excellent. . Hotel Globe Inn, for dinner had far from friendly staff who did not volunteer obvious information and the staff member rude. It was like we were intruding on the locals. On another evening at a different hotel we were abruptly told, "kitchen is closed". It was a Wednesday. We had walked a mile to get to this pub which was full of locals drinking. We wearily walked away toward another pub but one of the gentlemen who had witnessed what happened pulled up beside us and gave us a lift to the one that was serving meals.*

Sadly, the shops were shut and some permanently closed. I should imagine it was a thriving town once. Couldn't see much in the way of entertainment but close to other places of interest. Taxi service although they all offered different prices to the same place?

The general area and the woodlands were fantastic.

The general area and the woodlands were fantastic. However, the town of Coleford was very disappointing. It had a run-down feel about it with not a lot to see or do. The tourist information was very helpful. Symonds Yat Rock was incredible with superb views, well worth a visit. The Arboretum has a lovely walk with beautiful trees. The Sculpture trail was well worth doing and professionally laid out. A visit to the City of Gloucester is well worth doing, especially the renovated old docks area.

Welcome pack was an added bonus and we made good use of the tea and hot chocolate. Having milk and biscuits to hand meant we could rest before going out to buy provisions. The location was excellent being in the centre of Coleford meant plenty of choice for eating out or take away. Dishwasher was a bonus so no washing up. Loved the decor very retro 60/70s theme. Bed was warm and comfy and plenty of coat hangers. Tony was helpful.,warm and friendly. Overall an excellent place to stay.

I booked the room on behalf of a friend, so I can only give feed back on account of their experience reported to me. This friend was booked to arrive later than the main party, and a last minute request was made to also accommodate his wife. The hotel duly accommodated this request and also provided a room more suitable for two people sharing, and both guests were delighted with the efforts made by the hotel in sorting this request, and to the room that was given to them.

We liked the location of the property and it allowed us to get to our tour easily and get dinner from Coleford later in the evening. The beds were comfortable and the house well made up and clean for us. The owner coming to house to give us access and turn on services was helpful and they were very friendly and accommodating with the leaving time also.

It was immaculate with many thoughtful touches. The host had provided everything we might need including milk and butter in the fridge and a loaf of bread. The property was spacious and the beds were comfortable. Coleford was a good base for exploring the Forest of Dean and the Wye Valley and there were plenty of good places to eat nearby.

A great hotel in the middle of the Forest of Deam. Easy driving access to sites within the Forest and historic sites along the Welsh border including Tintern Abbey, Raglan Castle, and Chepstow Castle. The food was excellent in both the Orangery and Verderer's Restaurant. The room was great with a living area and separate bedroom.
