Santiago is an awesome city. The people are wonderful and there are so many great restaurants. The metro system is the best in South America - clean efficient and safe. Interesting city with easy access metro system. Highlights included San Cristobal Hill for the view and the main square. Due to the issues with pickpockets and street crime, it does require being hypervigilant with your valuables. We were touring the area around the Central Market when a local man approached us (2 women) and warned us that we were not safe in that area and needed to leave. Great city to visit surrounded by magnificent mountains. The funicular, garden on top of San Cristobal Hill, teleferico, various shopping areas can be easily accessed with hop on/hop off bus. Breakfast was surprisingly good for this price. Staff for the most attentive except for one person at the front desk during check-in. I was allowed to keep part of my luggage stored at the hotel until 6p the day I checked out.

They also offer free airport shuttles to/from the airport which run every half an hour or so, and have a storage room for baggage
