Up front to other see it: We had to move our flight to the Galapagos up to midnight rather than 7am the next day with 1 day to spare (Quito airport was closing, long story). Mario and team SAVED us by letting us stay until 9pm in the room for a very reduced rate (they could easily have made us pay the whole night as we had originally booked)
Also, all the other reviewers are 100% correct: Mario and his wife treat you like family (better even!). They arranged for the driver, who met us with a sign at the airport and drove us to town. They were there waiting to check us in late that night (around 10.30pm) and then arranged our breakfast and tour times to allow us to get enough sleep for the next day's excitement. Breakfast was lovely, in the courtyard. Fruit, coffee, bread, eggs as you ordered, etc. They helped arrange the tours in advance, which went off splendidly. The building is amazing-very relaxing. Great internet. Shower is a bit in the open so if that is an issue for you, it's something to consider. There is a lovely small museum 2 blocks up the street if you turn right as you leave Casa El Eden-free and highly recommended. Felt very safe. Great location. Met some lovely other guests as well. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful experience for my mother and me!
Appreciated the bottled water in the room every day. They even heated up some leftovers we had from a fabulous dinner (at Zazu) so we had a snack before going to the airport at 9pm-when we were too tired to go out.

Historic center was vibrant and scenic. Enjoyed visiting the Basilica as well as the magnificent Church of the Franciscans and the colorful architecture and plazas. Enjoyed the chocolate tasting at Mundo, delicious traditional Andean cuisine at Runa Tulpa Andina and excellent continental cuisine at La Vid in the Archbishop's Palace. There was 360 degree view of city from the Statue of the Virgin Panecillo at top of Quito. A major highlight was the tour of the Capilla del Hombre and the home of the artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin.

Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was.
Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience.
We would definitely make the trip again.

We were just there one night to experience the city having spent a few nights in the mountains near Pifo.
Loved the crazy city - beautiful architecture. Lots of security/police presence which made it feel safe. My partner was unwell so I explored the city solo - I was approached by a policeman who gave me a map and ensured I was safe/aware of where to walk etc.
It is easy to travel by foot. I would have liked longer but feel 2-3 nights would have been plenty.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito.
We stayed 2 nights in Quito. We had one full day in Quito, which was not enough. We happened to be there during Carnivale. We took a cab to the Basilica and then walked to Independance square to observe the celebration. Later we had a great meal in the nearby hall.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito.
I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito. A pickpocket stole my wallet and I lost USD 200. The police didn't seem to care and most couldn't speak English. Every single day I was harassed by beggars, some of whom were very aggressive. I didn't feel safe in Quito and became paranoid. I couldn't wait to leave. I would NEVER return to Ecuador and probably not any other country in South America. There is a nationwide state of emergency now, and it's very dangerous. I advise my fellow Americans to avoid Ecuador like the plague unless you go straight to the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is by far the worst country I've ever been to and I've traveled all over the world.

It's an old city, with lots of history and historical buildings. Many museums, often free. The surrounding mountains are beautiful and the climate is excellent.
Most of the people I met were friendly and willing to help a confused stranger. There are some beggars, and some unsavory areas, as with any sizable city.
I highly recommend visiting Wikiri Sapoparque if you're an animal lover. It's a great and unique experience.
Everything was amazing.
Staff were top notch both at reception (David)and at the restaurant (Chris).
The view was just unbelievable, morning and night time.
Location was amazing close to the centre.
The breakfast was served so beautifully and the dinner was so great too.
The night view of Quito took our breath away.
I got laundry done too and it was reasonably priced.
The hotel organised pick up and drop which were both excellent too.
If I ever went to Quito again ,I would stay here without a doubt.
Brilliant.
Hotel Antinea is “vaux le voyage” (worth the trip). This gorgeous hotel is on a stunning little street lined with Sycamore trees. It is a complex of traditional buildings very well designed and integrated. The rooms and garden terraces and courtyards are lovely and comfortable. The breakfast is unique in all Ecuador as it includes excellent croissant beurre (fait maison). The dining spaces are so attractive and filled with interesting art. The service is very, very attentive.
This is a small family-run hotel just two blocks from the main plaza in old town Quito. The family works very hard to provide a quality experience, including answering questions about the area and providing dinner suggestions, and Mama cooks a breakfast that is interesting, tasty and plentiful, with some exotic local fruits included.
I bought a Panama hat in the downstairs foyer that they open during the day and the price seemed good relative to other shops in the area.
The staff was wonderful and helpful. They made the place feel like home. It was also great to have tours available to book, and our tour guide was exceptional! The space was always clean and it felt so great to have such a cozy place to come back to after our adventures of the days we spent in Ecuador. We also felt very safe with the key lock for the outside doors and doors to our room. I would definitely come back to this hotel.
We loved the stay, even booking to come back again during our stay! Central, clean with everything you could hope for. There is even a cute terrace upstairs with cosy sofas and lights which we spent one evening just reading our books with a fab view of Quito. However, what made the stay extra special were the hosts - it was like staying with family! Will be recommending this hotel to all friends coming to Quito
We travelled around Ecuador for 3 weeks and kept returning to Ibis whenever we transited through Quito. It felt like home. Adrian was amazing, arranged a shuttle to and from the airport, as well as a shuttle to Mindo and back, gave us great tips for where to eat and what to visit. His English was excellent, he was always available to chat, very responsive and help us if we needed anything.
The property is a two hundred plus years old and is in the center of old town Quito! You are close to everything you want to go see! The owner and staff are incredibly helpful and they work with an exceptional driver! We started our trip in Quito and will return again a couple of times during our stay in Ecuador.
I loved everything about my stay at Old Town Quito Suites, apartments & Boutique Hotel! Great location, walking distance to the historic center. The apartment was neatly clean, confortable, and nicely decorated. EXCELLENT service. Staff were friendly and always ready to help. Looking forward to staying here again!
There were activities for socializing. Queity is awesome. She is very friendly. This was my second time in Ecuador, and I stayed in Quito for a weekend to meet people and party. So it was a little challenging because there were not many guests, but I had a good time here in the end.
Chakana was a wonderful hotel. The staff were super friendly, the breakfasts were delicious and the rooms so spacious and well designed. The bathrooms were great too. They also stored our luggage for two weeks while we traveled around Ecuador. Would definitely stay three again.
I returned to this place after spending two months in Ecuador and it was lovely to be welcomed back by David, the owner again.
Great place in the old town with amazing rooftop terrace and free coffee and breakfast. Chilled vibe,no complaints.
Gracias por todo David, con gusto!
We actually stayed here for 4 nights before our Ecuador travels. The hotel is so beautifully decorated in Ecuadorean style. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The shower takes a long time to get hot. The breakfasts are delicious. The staff are really lovely.
Super friendly, helpful staff, and lovely atmosphere. Very cute garden with hammocks and good kitchen/common area. Great location for the old town - about a 10min walk. We went back 3 times during our time in Ecuador as Quito is such a great base!
The security measures at the hotel were appreciated given we were staying during a busy festival time. They helped carry our bags and navigate us through busy streets to our driver. The location and ability to explore Old Town were great.
The hotel is a charming old building with a big, roofed courtyard. It has a nice rooftop space with a good overview of the old town. The staff is very helpful and were happy to share tips about Quito.
During my stay in Ecuador I staying at the Carpe DM whenever I needed to stay in Quito. After a month of staying there repetedly it felt like coming home. Thank you so much for everything!!!
Of our 3 weeks in Ecuador this hotel was by far the best. Big room, super comfy bed, couldn't hear road traffic, great setting, great staff. 100% would stay here again and recommend it.
This hotel was in the heart of the Old Historical District of Quito. The location lead us to visit the center of the old town rich with restaurants, churches, and spectacular views.
Have been coming to the hotel for many years and the staffs are super friendly always welcoming with ecuadorian roses. Love the breakfast!!! And the Spa
