Up front to other see it: We had to move our flight to the Galapagos up to midnight rather than 7am the next day with 1 day to spare (Quito airport was closing, long story). Mario and team SAVED us by letting us stay until 9pm in the room for a very reduced rate (they could easily have made us pay the whole night as we had originally booked)
Also, all the other reviewers are 100% correct: Mario and his wife treat you like family (better even!). They arranged for the driver, who met us with a sign at the airport and drove us to town. They were there waiting to check us in late that night (around 10.30pm) and then arranged our breakfast and tour times to allow us to get enough sleep for the next day's excitement. Breakfast was lovely, in the courtyard. Fruit, coffee, bread, eggs as you ordered, etc. They helped arrange the tours in advance, which went off splendidly. The building is amazing-very relaxing. Great internet. Shower is a bit in the open so if that is an issue for you, it's something to consider. There is a lovely small museum 2 blocks up the street if you turn right as you leave Casa El Eden-free and highly recommended. Felt very safe. Great location. Met some lovely other guests as well. Thank you everyone for such a wonderful experience for my mother and me!
Appreciated the bottled water in the room every day. They even heated up some leftovers we had from a fabulous dinner (at Zazu) so we had a snack before going to the airport at 9pm-when we were too tired to go out.

QUITO HAS A HUGE DISTINCT DISCRIMINITORY AGAINST ANYONE GAY.
QUITO HAS A HUGE DISTINCT DISCRIMINITORY AGAINST ANYONE GAY. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND IT WHAT SO EVER. ALSO HUGE CRIME RATE THAT IS UNBELEIVABLE. IT HAS DESTINCT DESTINATIONS NEARBY SUCH AS COTOPAXI , RIOBAMBA THAT ARE MUCH BETTER AND SAFER TO STAY IN.. YOU CAN ALWAYS TAKE A DAY TRIP ON A TOUR THAT IS SAFE AND SECURE BY BUS CHEAPLY.

Historic center was vibrant and scenic.
Historic center was vibrant and scenic. Enjoyed visiting the Basilica as well as the magnificent Church of the Franciscans and the colorful architecture and plazas. Enjoyed the chocolate tasting at Mundo, delicious traditional Andean cuisine at Runa Tulpa Andina and excellent continental cuisine at La Vid in the Archbishop's Palace. There was 360 degree view of city from the Statue of the Virgin Panecillo at top of Quito. A major highlight was the tour of the Capilla del Hombre and the home of the artist, Oswaldo Guayasamin.

Due to current political issues in Ecuador, we were a little apprehensive about making the trip. However, only minutes after we landed in Quito we fell in love. The airport is amazingly clean and has all the amenities you would want. Quito, the La Carolina area, was extremely clean and very secure. The shopping was fantastic and there were tons of restaurants to choose from. All that said, we were most surprised by how reasonably priced everything was.
Also, a lot of bars do not take credit cards. Ecuador uses the American dollar, so have some on hand so you don't have an awkward experience.
We would definitely make the trip again.

We were just there one night to experience the city having spent a few nights in the mountains near Pifo.
Loved the crazy city - beautiful architecture. Lots of security/police presence which made it feel safe. My partner was unwell so I explored the city solo - I was approached by a policeman who gave me a map and ensured I was safe/aware of where to walk etc.
It is easy to travel by foot. I would have liked longer but feel 2-3 nights would have been plenty.

We stayed 2 nights in Quito.
We stayed 2 nights in Quito. We had one full day in Quito, which was not enough. We happened to be there during Carnivale. We took a cab to the Basilica and then walked to Independance square to observe the celebration. Later we had a great meal in the nearby hall.

I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito.
I was robbed on the third day I was in Quito. A pickpocket stole my wallet and I lost USD 200. The police didn't seem to care and most couldn't speak English. Every single day I was harassed by beggars, some of whom were very aggressive. I didn't feel safe in Quito and became paranoid. I couldn't wait to leave. I would NEVER return to Ecuador and probably not any other country in South America. There is a nationwide state of emergency now, and it's very dangerous. I advise my fellow Americans to avoid Ecuador like the plague unless you go straight to the Galapagos Islands. Ecuador is by far the worst country I've ever been to and I've traveled all over the world.
We stayed in the hotel in 3 different occasions during our trip to Ecuador. The hotel is very well decorated, and every detail is inspired by the indigenous culture of the Andes and the concept of Chakana. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. They helped us organize different visits, booked taxis for us, introduced us to the local culture and made sure we were at all time comfortable and had all we needed. The restaurant offered very tasty and well presented food. We definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Quito
I booked over 150 different hotels on Booking.com so far. This one is in my top 3. I stayed here twice for a total of 8 days. The hotel and rooms are decorated with taste. The rooftop breakfast and lounge area offers a superb view of the city. But there is more, much more: the staff. Yale at the reception will make you feel at home and help you with anything from taxis to private and group tours. Just a hint: people in Ecuador are the nicest in the world, and the staff at this hotel is the nicest in Ecuador.
I loved my stay in this grand old house with thick walls and stone fireplaces. The room was clean and basic with a good bed. The staff where exceptionally friendly and helpful. Freddy the concierge is a treasure. Diago the manager is a great guy (both spoke good English). All staff went out of their way to help me and where honest and transparent. I came by Hotel taxi transfer which was painless. This was my first days in Ecuador; it was a great welcome, and an exceptionally professional service.
My husband and I sincerely loved our stay at Kinde House! Eduardo was very welcoming and made check-in/check-out easy. He was accommodating to our needs and gave us recommendations for places to see in the city. If we had questions, he was prompt in responding via WhatsApp. The location is perfect for exploring Quito Old Town by foot, taxi, or Uber. We slept well and it was quiet considering it's proximity to the city. The breakfast each morning was exquisite and we looked forward to it each day!
I spent 3 nights at Latinos Brothers House and I felt so welcome in Ecuador. The guys Octavio and Oskar have been the absolute hosts, friends. The guys showed us around the city of Quito and invited us to many parties. On the last night we lit a fire on their beautiful terrace and played music and had a great time. The hostel is super central and across the street has the market and mini markets.
The hostel was decorated with love and always had hot water.
An absolutely recommendable hostel.
From the very stylish entrance till the rooftop terrace and lounge area it is a very comfortable, sympathic little hotel near to Carolina Park.
Breakfast was wonderful with a lot of fresh fruit, eggs, fruit juices, granola and more.
The rooms very clean, modern, beautiful photgraphs of the most remarkable landscape highlights of Ecuador. A good choice of art objects, sculptures, wooden masks, pictures make a difference!!
When I first arrived in Ecuador (Quito) this place felt like a home. It's not a party Hostel for sure and that's what I most liked about it. You get some rest there. Nice breakfast, fast internet, clean, comfy beds and helpful advice from the owner. I was there two times and maybe I'll go back for a third time, who knows:).
Yvonne and Rodrigo are an absolute gem of a friendly couple. They were eager to tell me about the theme of the hotel, Ecuadorian culture, and answered any question I had! The service was impeccable from them.
The breakfast was very good, especially the babaco juice. Would definitely go here again whenever I am in Quito!
beautiful property! very unique. combines modern with classic Ecuadorian architecture! Breakfast was great with a beautiful view. Only negative is also its positive. The location in old town is great, but not some place you should walk at night. Felt very safe as they had a bery secure hotel. would stay again!
There were activities for socializing. Queity is awesome. She is very friendly. This was my second time in Ecuador, and I stayed in Quito for a weekend to meet people and party. So it was a little challenging because there were not many guests, but I had a good time here in the end.
The location in Old Town was ideal for exploring this part of Quito. Additionally, the complimentary breakfast was great. Finally, the staff were very helpful with everything, from suggesting locations to visit to booking tours and securing a driver to/from the airport.
We actually stayed here for 4 nights before our Ecuador travels. The hotel is so beautifully decorated in Ecuadorean style. The bed and pillows are comfortable. The shower takes a long time to get hot. The breakfasts are delicious. The staff are really lovely.
The proprietors of this family owned hotel were incredibly warm, welcoming and helpful. Breakfast was delicious, my room was comfortable and the location was very convenient for sightseeing in the old town.
The staff is friendly and very helpful. The terrace view is amazing, I spent great time there. Room was little bit cold, breakfast was yummy, and definitely recommend this hotel for your Ecuador trip.
I came here with my girlfriend to propose. The hotel staff went out of there to help me plan and get anything I needed. They were all so nice and one of the best places I’ve stayed in Ecuador!
Hotel runned by a lovely family, we were extremely well treated.
It is clean and have Hot water, walking distance from the historic center.
Best quality price we had in our trip in Ecuador.
Have been coming to the hotel for many years and the staffs are super friendly always welcoming with ecuadorian roses. Love the breakfast!!! And the Spa
