We enjoyed the staff (most of them) and the room was quaint. However there was not enough help and we are old with heavy suitcases and needed some help up and down the stairs

FAQs about hotels in Fort William

In the Shadow of Ben Nevis

Fort William is shadowed by Great Britain’s highest peak, Ben Nevis, and lies on the shores of pretty Loch Linnhe. The Scottish Highland’s 2nd biggest city attracts hordes of hikers, climbers and mountain bikers, enhancing its self-proclaimed reputation as the ‘outdoor capital of Scotland’.

In the city centre, on High Street, is the West Highland Museum that explains local Highland history. The West Highland Way is a famous, long-distance walking route that begins and ends just outside Fort William.

The Nevis Range ski centre and Nevis Range gondola provides a stunning view of the Great Glen. A downhill mountain-biking track also begins here. This breath-taking track has hosted numerous world cups as well as the 2007 World Championships. Stop along the way to try the local whiskey at Ben Nevis Distillery.

Named after William of Orange, Fort William has been home to the Clan Cameron for many generations. Booking.com invites you to soak up the outdoor highlights and history of this charming city and surrounding countryside with its extensive range of hotels, bed and breakfasts and guest houses.

Pre-booked The Jacobite Steam Train for our return trip from Fort William to Mallaig. Walked along the beach to see the Corpach Shipwreck located between Corpach and Caol. In Fort William some of the tourist shops were open in the evening until 10pm. Walked up Neptune's Stair Case - the 8 canal locks - to take photographs of the boats moored at the top. Stopped at a craft shop next to the canal. Drove to Spean Bridge (10 miles approx) to visit a Woollen Mill Shop.

Fort William as a town needs investment, depending on why you are there I suppose would change your opinion. Ben nevis 10 mins away, beautiful loch on doorstep fishing , climbing walking, down hill cycling, ski ing, diving all plus points. Night time especially week night useless. Morar and Mallaig to the North beautiful and in summer amazing beach at Morar. If you are there for hobby or sport great base camp, if you are a tourist and like entertainment at night during the week go somewhere else.

Fort William was as nice as usual however please note certain businesses are only open during tourist season. We also enjoyed filling up on the gondolas at Nevis Range. I must say though, try and avoid Caledonia hotel. The toilet was like what you get in a nursery and my private parts in the water. Carpet threadbare, wallpaper coming off the walls due to dampness, a very uncomfortable bed, adjoining door that we were not made aware of. Electricity was off on arrival and due to my dust allergies and at 3pm the room had not been cleaned, we left and checked in later. There was still dirt in the room and at the top of the bed, I caughed thru the night both nights. When it rained you could hear a loud drip from within the wall cavity. I'm not a confrontational person and didn't feel comfortable bringing the issues up with reception, so just be warned. The lift was out of order too. Beware room 220!!! Such shame being a brilliant location .

Fort William is a nice little town very well located.

Fort William is a nice little town very well located. It's ten minutes away from Ben Nevis and 45mn from Glencoe ski resort. Before that, you have all the Glencoe mountains to explore. There are still a lot to do during winter, even if snow sports are not an option due to lack of snow and/or high winds. You have the West Highland Museum, a brand new movie theatre, the Ben Nevis distillery, an indoor climbing centre, etc.

The property is perched on top of a hill offering a nice view from our room window. The bathroom has been tastefully updated and comes with all the toiletries you can think of. Place is clean and towels fluffy. Iron and ironing board are in the room in case you need it. On top of getting refreshed and a good night's sleep in our well appointed room, the host also serves a made to order hot breakfast in the morning. For the price the host is charging, highly recommend if you are looking for accommodation in Fort William.

This gem of a hotel is located in the heart of Fort William's main street so shops and restaurants are literally right out the front door. The transportation hub is a short walk away, and there is a public parking lot close by. If you drive there, wait to take in your luggage until after you check in as they will show you how to access a lift in the back of the building. The staff is extremely helpful and gave great suggestions for nearby excursions and a lovely nature walk in town.

Great location between Loch Ness and Glenn Coe, so much nicer to stay here than staying in Fort WIlliam! We had a very good meal at the restaurant, just perfect after a long day in a quiet and layed back setting, and then just walked back to our conmfortable and quiet room for a long night before another eventful day. Breakfast was very good as well and the breakfast lounge looks over the garden on a beautiful pink cherry blossom tree that was full bloom so it was a real delight.

This cabin was absolutely stunning! They have got everything that you need in there. Gives you the thrill of living in a cabin with the convenience of a loaded hotel studio. The kitchenette is fully equipped. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a stay in Fort William. Another exciting add-on is that the steam train passes right behind the property.

The property is just a short walk into Fort William overlooking the most magnificent views. It is the cleanest hotel I’ve ever been in, I mean properly spotless. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided a warm welcome. I liked that the room had everything I needed, the bed was super comfortable and I liked having a lift as I was on the 3rd floor.

The owners are exceptional! Property is quiet with excellent access to Fort William and Ben Nevis. We were so sore and exhausted after climbing Ben Nevis. When we returned, Eilean went above and beyond to care for us. A+++ to her and this lodging. Food is excellent, too. There is nothing bad to say.

    - The hotel is new, rooms -including the bathrooms- are very clean. - A good option as long as the price is resonable. Minimalist service similar to Premier Inn and Travelodge. - The main audience is the Ben Nevis travellers, but Fort William is a 15 minute and Loch Ness is a 30 minute drive.
