Parking a little cramped but manageable En-suite was smoky when fire lit downstairs
Comfortable room. Clean and modern
shoer of parking space. Bit of a hit and a miss if the occupancy is high and this property does attract quite a few travellers.
Location, breakfast and friendly staff
The staff made us feel welcome and nothing was too much trouble. Other guests were friendly and relaxed. Food was locally scorched and beautifully cooked. Log fires and candles - amazing!
Brilliant breakdast brought to room by very attentive staff
Not much to offer locally
Ambience. Very pretty! Lots of candles, open fire and fine wine
Was just a little cold in our room
Service, facilities, staff were all great
Stayed for two nights and everything was perfect, unable fault anything. The staff were great, very welcoming and friendly. The food was excellent both at breakfast and for an evening meal, accommodation was faultless with the location just. Can't wait to return!!
The hotel was great and the staff really friendly. The bed was so comfy and the breakfasts absolutely beautiful.
Décor Service Facilities Location
We went in the middle of winter and the room was cold.
Lovely thoughtfully equipped and fitted out quiet small house hotel.
The location was quite remote but this is perfect if that's what your looking for, ideal for people who don't mind driving to places to eat & drink.
Excellent staff who were welcoming and informative room lovely and food in the knoll 10/10. Very cosy.
Nothing really - the water temperature in the shower takes a while to stabilise - just like ours at home really
The house, the food and most of all the lovely owners/staff. A return trip is certainly in our minds and we booked this first one at the last minute through booking.com on the strength of a fabulous high score from previous guests.
breakfast was excellent.
Condensation in the bedroom and room was particularly cold. Shower pressure was weak and not very hot.
Staff and location. Great breakfast, wonderful real fire in the lounge.
Location was a little far out from pubs, but I think we are lazy!
Everything! The atmosphere, the decor, the food and service. Lovely little touches really made the stay and the beds were very comfortable.
car parking could get a bit confusing for some which would then result in reducing the number of spaces dramatically
the lounge was very cosy and nice with a fireplace Amazing breakfast Quiet area Lovely walk straight out of the back door Helpful staff
Arrived at the Knoll for a four night stay to be met with a warm welcome by Jen, who showed us to our room. This was spacious and very clean, plenty of storage space for clothes etc. We found the breakfasts plentiful (full english meant very full. Evening meals are 5* michelin quality. (Excellent). Five minute stroll to Lakeside harbour for boat to Bowness / Ambleside or Steam train to Haverthwaite.
the personal touch from Jen and Denise and the idyllic location. Shame we could only stay one night but we will be back !
The heating was turned off in the evening leaving the room quite cold. This was despite the fact that we had complained about the cold and they had turned the heating on only to turn it off agin after we left for dinner. To far away from other places to eat
Having to book in for dinner and chose meal by 6pm daily. Parking outside was limited but additional parking a short walk away.
Lovely large room with sofas and chairs. Great bathroom. Food was of a very high quality
Not many main attractions or restaurants within walking distance. The restaurants that were close by were expensive. Had difficulty in the morning manoeuvring the car out of the driveway due to lack of parking space.
A quiet, relaxing location. Very friendly and welcoming staff Plenty of choice at breakfast and the cooked breakfast was very tasty. The bedrooms were homely and well presented. Tea and coffee making facilities in the room re filled every day. A very informative welcome pack in the room with all the attractions in the area. Also a very helpful guide with directions to the local restaurants nearby. Can definitely recommend The Masons Arms pub lovely food and a wonderful view a 10 minute drive away.
Very friendly, excellent breakfast!
Food was amazing very tasty and reasonably priced! Nice relaxing atmosphere great for being a base for seeing the lakes.
Would have benefitted from a drying room as we participate in outdoor activities & drying our wet shoes & kit was a bit difficult although the staff were very helpful.
Comfort, food, ambience, lovely caring staff & location for our activities.
relaxed atmosphere friendly staff lovely decor superb breakfast
