Lovely woodland setting.
On site restaurant was great. Brilliant service and lovely food.
Host was helpful in supplying info in advance. Cottage was well placed for visiting the Llyn Peninsula. However, although the cottage was clean, there was an extremely musty smell which hit us as soon as we arrived and proved impossible to clear. It may have been damp. Also, although there was parking, the entrance to the drive way is quite narrow and certainly difficult to access as it is right on a bend in a busy road. As others have reported, the bed in the main bedroom is rather springy and a bit uncomfortable.

criccieth is a very small quiet place and facilities for eating out are very limited, especially if you have not had time to pre book.
All throughout the area some restaurants do not do food on mondays others not on a tuesday. we often had to travel into Porthmadog to eat.
Criccieth is very scenic, there is a lovely spot down by the bay by the castle to try to spot the Dolphins.

Criccieth is a pleasant quiet town with a nice beach and some individual shops, restuarants, hotels and plenty of cafes. It is a very good place to journey out from for the day.
It is easy to walk around and the castle makes a lovely view by the sea.
We ate in the Prince of Wales. Standard pub food, nothing fancy. The scampi and chips was good and the staff friendly. Some interesting old photos in the pub as well as the history of the very old beam you can see in the upstairs dining area.
We had a birthday meal at the Caerwylan hotel. Our later (8pm) booking meant that within half an hour we were the only diners (everyone else had dined earlier). When I booked I emailed that it was a birthday celebration but was told it would depend on how many guests are in the earlier slot! I went ahead with the booking as I didn't want to drive anywhere. The food was nicely presented and the vegetables the best cooked I have eaten out for a long time,. My husband also highly rated the dessert. We were however disappointed with the lamb rump - mine was not that tender and somewhat fatty and some gristle. Little flavour. We have had lamb rump at a very good pub restaurant on Dartmoor and it had good flavour and tender. They also did not have oat milk which has become a common stock item in a lot or hotels, restaurants and cafes. We had to find a member of staff to pay the bill as we had coffee in the bar area and did not see anyone after that. We had to go and find a staff member! So Criccieth lovely but the 4 star rated hotel not brilliant.
We can recommend The Goat - recently refurbished - a lovely pub about 3 miles from Criccieth and apparently there is another one further up the coast near Nefyn which we will visit on our next stay.

While Criccieth isn't large, being based there gives you access to explore the whole of North Wales and make some excellent walking excursions in Snowdonia. Criccieth has an excellent beach and is a short drive from many other wonderful beaches. The castle is also a nice place to stop if you have a couple hours to spare.

The iris is a fantastic property .
The iris is a fantastic property . The views are absolutely amazing. Its next to the beach. Above the Cadwaladers and across from the fish and chip shop. What more could you want 😂 Parking is plentiful.
If you get the opportunity take a drive to Black Rock sands which you can drive on. The sunset from there is fantastic.
The breakfast was excellent, with plenty of choice and the location was excellent too. It was a 2 minute walk to the sea front and easy access to the whole Llŷn Peninsula. The owners were lovely and friendly and greeted us with some fantastic Bara Brith (traditional Welsh tea bread) on our late afternoon returns. The whole B&B is spotless and highly recommended. When we return to North Wales this will always be the first place we check for availability.
Hendre Cennin was such a cosy place to stay, we were warm and comfortable throughout our whole stay (even through a storm), it’s a wonderfully quiet place to relax and we felt very well rested by the time we left. Rachel was extremely accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed. It was a great location to be able to explore North Wales. Driving to Snowdonia, Anglesey, Conwy etc. isn’t a long drive at all. All in all, we had a GREAT time.
The location of the property made it quiet and a perfect place to relax. However if we needed anything Criccieth and Porthmadog were close by. Our dog loved the garden and as it was fully enclosed we could let her run around freely. Everything we could need was available at the cottage and we could see that previous feedback from other holidaymakers had been acted on, which had made improvements to the cottage and the garden.
Mark and Louise infused our stay with care and quality... our room was spotless with e erything we needed for our short stay in Criccieth. The breakfast was excellent, top quality ingredients and presented with real hospitality... White linen, wonderful service and thoughtful extras like handwrapped and home made cake to help ourselves to as we left for the day... thank you both! We look forward to returning.
I didn’t have high expectations- i needed a bed for the night and this hotel popped up when i searched. It looked ok and the price was agreeable, so booked it.
Wow, the hotel was great. Staff were welcoming, drinks very reasonably priced, the hotel room was great and we slept well.
Breakfast was fabulous and the service staff were exceptional.
Highly recommended.
Room nice and clean and comfy bed. Enjoyed breakfast every morning. Guest house was good base to explore area and Criccieth was not far to walk to maybe 5 minutes. We enjoyed the Prince of Wales Pub and the curry restaurant. Plenty of places to eat. Hosts were informative on where to visit which helped us decide what to do on our stay.
Good location, the hotel is near the beach in Criccieth and not far from other places in the Llyn Peninsular. The room was clean and a good size. The staff are very good at keeping good hygiene in the hotel because of Covid. The food is excellent, there is a good choice for the evening meal and the chips are as good as ever.
We liked everything about this hotel breakfast was brilliant our evening dinner was amazing the view was what we expected when we booked the staff were friendly and helpful Hotel is ran to a hight standard in cleanliness and hospitality I highly recommend Caerwylan Hotel
Amazing location, panoramic view of the mountains and sea. Spotless accommodation, beautifully kept gardens, easy to walk into Criccieth for shops and food etc. Best bit was sitting on the veranda watching the sun go down with the sea lapping at the shore.
The room was lovely, comfy beds, lovely location and incredibly clean. The hosts were so so lovely and nothing was a bother. The breakfast was also so yummy. We will definitely be staying again if we find ourselves in Wales again soon!
Breakfast same price for buffet or cooked. Shouldn’t be. Menu was not good and no a la carte. A basic hotel intended for coach holidaymakers. We were not aware of this at time of booking. Otherwise we wouldn’t have booked.
The rooms were nice and big, I loved the bed, it was so comfy. Beautiful views, the restaurant made an amazing breakfast, so tasty! The rooms were spotless, so clean! The hotel was right across the beach
Great hosts, we were made to feel very welcome. Spacious, clean room and comfortable bed. Excellent breakfast. Great location near Criccieth Castle and also on the Welsh Coastal path for walking.
The location is superb for sight seeing all of North Wales and the host was very attentive.
The room was exceptionally clean and even had nice little touches of items we all sometimes forget.
Lovely property, nicely decorated and furnished, giving a clean and fresh feel. Spacious rooms and good facilities and in a good location near the beach and the centre of Criccieth.
Big bright apartment in my favorite part of Wales, Criccieth. Stunning sea and castle views. I would definitely stay again. Off road Parking available too
