Large room, comfortable bed (two singles joined together). Service in the restaurant and bar was excellent - quick, efficient and friendly. Location of the hotel is very good.

The house itself is beautiful and the river Wye is directly opposite and could be seen from my window. There was a kettle and a couple of coffee sachets in the room, which kept me going until I was able to find a café for breakfast in the morning (not breakfast available at the guest house). I didn't really see the hosts apart from upon arrival, which is fine by me! My check in time was 4pm, but was told it was fine to arrive earlier, which was helpful, as it gave me my base for the day

Ross is an interesting town full of history.
Ross is an interesting town full of history. It is also central to the area for trips out. There are activities in the area, especially if you like the outdoors, all within a half hours drive.
It is close to Hereford, Ledbury, Symonds Yat and the Wye Valley in general, The Forest of Dean, Monmouth, Gloucester and any other place you might wish to visit for the day. Chepstow is a little further but worth the visit.
The roads are generally good A roads and the M50 gets you quickly to the M5.

Historic border town with easy access to surrounding scenic areas and towns.
A good selection of independent shops and restaurants. Good views over the Wye valley and a small friendly theatre. Relatively unspoilt.

Rather disappointed.
Rather disappointed. Town looked tired and had seen better days. Difficult to walk along the river for all the bushes. Having said that, it did rain every day and nowhere looks good unless the sun shines

lovely little town with all sorts of shops to cater for everyone, we had our own food but bought a few bits in the town also visited the architectural store for the second time for quirky buys. A must to visit is Baileys home not far outside Ross on Wye on the Hereford road i simply wanted everything in there!!
The location in the centre of Ross-on-Wye is fabulous, a beautiful and quaint hotel. The staff couldn’t have been more friendly and fun. Despite the 30 degrees outside the hotel was kept cool especially in the Barr and restaurant. The food in the evening was first class and very reasonably priced. Breakfast was first class too I can definitely recommend the smoked salmon on scrambled eggs. The beds were very comfortable and it was all very clean. I will definitely stay here again
Dinner, lovely present food. Steak was the best I have ever tasted. Good spacing of tables. Lovely decorated restaurant. Sat in the conservatory for breakfast.
Bedroom was light, 2 windows, situated at the front of the Inn, with views of the countryside, rolling fields and view of castle.
Enjoyed a drink or two outside the front under a brolly as it was a hot weekend.
Plenty of parking.
The innkeeper Andy and his wife Sophie were very kind and accommodating- they allowed my mum and her dog to join me on short notice for the second night of my stay, and were present on both arrival and departure to help with the tight parking situation - in the rain no less! Very kind people taking good care of their guests. Sophie's breakfasts were fab as were the nearby nature walks.
Orles Barn is an exceptional hotel. Roxy and Matt are the nicest, kindest people you will ever meet. The food (Matt is the chef) is quite simply the best I've tasted in any hotel anywhere! You will be treated like royalty at the hands of Roxy, who is such a warm and genuine person. I LOVE staying here and cannot recommend Orles Barn highly enough.
Well equipped, roomy property with plenty of character. Easy access for some lovely walks in the countryside and along the river Wye. Dog friendly with a separate little garden. Walking distance of a friendly local Pub/Hotel that was also dog friendly. Easy drive to Ross on Wye and Monmouth for trips out to local towns.
We booked Orles Barn after our original travel plans changed. I'm very glad that they did. If I return to Ross on Wye I would definitely stay here again. The property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It's an easy walk into the town centre along the river. The breakfast was the best I've had in a long time.
Excellent breakfast and very nice dinning room. Great service by friendly staff. Didn't stay for dinner because I was visiting a friend in Ross each evening. Would definitely recommend the Castle Lodge, very welcoming hosts, excellent value, great facilities and conveniently situated to Ross on Wye.
Breakfast was excellent felt sorry for the staff having to run up and down stairs serving food. Location was very good as the town 300 yards away just as it was uphill from hotel other than that position great also over looking the river.
The hotel is well located close to Ross on Wye and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The food was exceptionally good. The room rates at the hotel are very good value for money and we highly recommend staying here.
Excellent location, one minute from Ross town centre. High above river, expansive views. Very little traffic noise.
Generous welcome pack: eggs, butter, milk, croissants, marmalade.
Very welcoming hosts, beautifully decorated rooms. A lovely location overlooking the river. A delicious breakfast too with lots of lovely little touches throughout the hotel.
Room had a great view across the river and a well equipped bathroom. Breakfast was excellent, as was dinner. Didn't expect the food to be so good in a chain hotel.
