Melbourne Lodge, hotel in Welwyn

Lovely green location. The room was very comfortable especially the bed. A little dated but still wonderful. The tea and coffee making facilities were good and I was provided with extras when I ashed. The bathroom was very comfortable with twin sinks, a fabulous bath and lovely bathroom products. Bath robes were also provided. Plenty of wardrobe space.

The room was clean and comfortable and very quiet despite its location on a busy road. The breakfast was very good, freshly cooked and lots of choice. We had dinner in the restaurant which was also good. I cannot fault the staff. Everyone was friendly, helpful and ready to go the extra mile to make our stay special. I was in the area to visit family and since they didn't have room for me I stayed in this hotel/restaurant/pub. It was very comfortable and the room was quiet even with the bar downstairs. The bed was comfortable, which is always important! I had the option to have my room refreshed every day if I chose to. Welwyn is a cute village and I always felt safe. I didn't eat in town since I was visiting family but there are lots of places to eat.

It is a lovely village with an very good selection of places to eat and drink. We enjoyed our walk around the village, it felt safe and welcoming. Very close to the M25 for journeys further afield. The surrounding countryside is beautiful too.

We were visiting the area for a particular reason and chose Welwyn because we were aware (a little bit) of it. We found the town very much to our liking; plenty of choice for evening meals and, surprisingly, very quiet at night.

I stayed there shortly, but there are some nice pubs around there. The Rose and the Crown (pub) was amazing and it has a very large garden through which you can enjoy the nice weather while drinking a couple of beers. It is highly recommended.

The location was perfect, it was so peaceful and we felt as though we were on holiday. We definitely will stay again. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Luxurious, quality bedding, loved the period furniture, all kept to appropriate age of the hotel. The bar was well equipped and busy, it was nice to see a range of ages in the bar (a testament of popularity) not all residents, but had a relaxed atmosphere. The breakfast was amazing. Good quality products, variety of choices continental to fruit and a full English.

Everything excellent. Called hotel as we were stuck in traffic on M25 and would be late arrival. Although restaurant closes at 9pm, we were offered a cold option left in our room if we didn’t make it for 9pm. We arrived 8:50pm and staff were brilliant. Told not to rush, restaurant would stay open for us. Room upgraded as well. Cannot fault customer service. Wish we were staying longer than one night! All staff friendly and efficient. Nothing is too much trouble.

What a gem The Wellington is. We stayed in room 2 and it exceeded expectations. In fact, it's probably one of the loveliest hotel rooms I've ever stayed in. Bed was very comfortable, shower lovely and a large, deep bath. Lots of attention to detail. I hope to return again soon. Unfortunately an early flight meant we left before breakfast, but for the price you cannot beat this gem. Very welcoming and attentive staff too. Just superb 👌

The Wellington (the boot not an old aeroplane!), is an old public house, central to the old partof Welwyn, with on-site parking at the rear of the pub. The staff are excellent, although breakfast staff are somewhat overwhelmed, trying to serve both residents and early visitors to the pub. Anything on the breakfast menu is included in the room price. Room are quirky but clean.
