We had our two dogs with us so we really liked the room we had that opened out onto the seaview lawn and we could take them down to the beach for a quick run.
Dating from 1898, this wonderful hotel commands a majestic location, nestled in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, providing a spectacular view across Swanage Bay and Pevril Point.

Great location in a cute little town and within 5 min walk of several places to eat. The rooms were clean and had such pretty decor. It felt so quaint and comfortable. The price for staying was a good deal, and they offered a really great breakfast, which was really large. Each item is much bigger than we expected.
The owners were really accommodating and sweet. We had a really great stay, and will definitely be looking to come back again in the future.

we only had two full days in Swanage in the middle of November, so our experience was not typical, We did look to drive into the town and park on the road by the side of the seafront, however the parking charge of £4.30 for the first hour put us off, who wants to benefit from 3 hours at £7.00 in November. As we didn't use the town car parks we cannot comment on the charges in them.
My husband has bad knees so we didn't park and walk around the town but there did seem to be some interesting little, individual shops as we drove through, We found Corfe Castle a delight to visit, especially the NT tea shop! We hope to go back.

I've stayed in Swanage several times and this reflects my like of Swanage and the surrounding area.
The Town / beach / numerous eating options / the compact layout of the Town makes it easy to navigate. Also great walks in and around Swanage for short strolls or longer treks.
Can't say I would have anywhere that I would avoid on subsequent visits.

Additional extra charges for dogs were not included in my initial expectations. I specifically looked for pet-friendly accommodations, assuming that the listed price would cover any potential pet fees. However, I was disappointed to discover that there was an additional £30 charge for my two teacup dogs.
The prices for meals were exceedingly high, considering that the quality and taste were not particularly impressive.

Swanage is a compact seaside town but with the added advantage of an excellent bus service and the Swanage steam railway. The beach is clean and sandy. There are boat trips from the pier during the summer. A good selection of shops not just seaside souvenirs . Plenty of choices for evening meals and snacks.

Swanage is one of my most favourite seaside towns!
Swanage is one of my most favourite seaside towns! It is an absolutely beautiful town with a gorgeous bay, with very safe bathing and also dramatic cliff tops too. The town has many lovely shops and lots of fantastic eating places around the harbour and further in the town too. It is facinating to also learn about the history of Swanage and the connections to London and royalty! It is the most wonderful family seaside location xxx
Parking is plentiful.
our room was spacious. we had a room with double doors opening onto the garden which was lovely to be able to sit out in the garden in the sunshine.
Hotel is in the heart of Swanage, everything is within walking distance from the restaurants, pubs and the beach. we have stayed at the Purbeck house hotel on a number of occasions and we have never been disappointed.

The kitchen had a great gas cooker and oven. The microwave was good and was the kettle.
Beds are very comfy and bedding. They are good clean quality.
Bathroom clean with lovely shower.
The living had excellent seating with a very comfortable main sofa and a chair with leg rest.
The location is perfect since Swanage Beach is only 5 mins walk away.
Had a lovely stay at The Rookery. Located in a convenient spot, being a short walk to the beach and the township a little further on. Alan was a warm and welcoming host who was very responsive to any needs. The room was clean top to bottom and very comfortable. Added bonus was the fantastic breakfast's, with a wide range of choice and relaxed environment. Definitely recommend!
We had the most beautiful room, with a sea view, overlooking Swanage and the hotel gardens and beach. A most exceptional location. Very clean, the staff were very kind and approachable. The shower in the bathroom was great. Lots of space, light and airy, with a large wardrobe for our clothes. The bed was huge, and very comfortable. We loved it.
The cottage was beautiful and well equipped. communication from the host was excellent. we stayed with our two teenage sons and there was ample space for us all. having towels, and cleaning supplies included was a bonus too! short walk to swanage high street and the beach. perfect relaxing stay
The owner and staff are very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is 5 star. Location is perfect, very near to the beach. My family and I are really happy with the stay. We are planning to go back.
One thing to improve is to install air-conditioner, then it will be perfect on hot days.
beautiful location. despite not being beach facing, I was able to watch the sunset from my room window and watched the sunrise from the back of the hotel. easy to get to. staff were friendly and helpful. good selection for included breakfast. room quality was better than expected
Wonderful location, just on the coast and with private access to the beach. Can imagine that this facility is even more advantageous during the season. Proper sized garden where You can let the children run on the grass, good views from the windows, amazing surroundings.
Lovely B&B in the perfect location to walk into Swanage/explore the jurassic coast. Really good value for money, rooms were very clean. Breakfast was amazing!! Hosts were wonderful and loved the self-checkin boxes as we had multiple people sharing rooms and only one key
great location in central Swanage - easy walk to town and beach, with plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants. garden was a real oasis. the house is really fascinating, the beds really comfortable and the bathrooms lovely. plenty of space overall.
The hotel and rooms were lovely. The hosts were very accomodating and friendly. Breakfast was good. the hotel is a short walk to the beach and beyond that the town centre. We would definitely come back next time we are in Swanage!
The view from the cliff-top location is stunning, as well as the sunrises and sunsets.
The dining room and terrace must have the best views in Swanage, and the hotel steps leading to the beach made it almost exclusive.
Very well equipped kitchen, good space and lovely additions such as wine, biscuits, milk and crisps on arrival. The flat was close to the beach and near the centre of Swanage.
Lovely hotel, full of history and a very good location for Swanage. Good size room with sea views. Quiet, unlike other hotels we have stayed in. Staff were all friendly.
The location is brilliant. Beds are comfortable. There is everything you need in the kitchen. Lots of space. Matt is usually very responsive and sorts and issues.
The location was perfect for a quiet stay and easy walk to town or beach. We thought it was empty…so quiet…yet fully booked. The breakfast was delicious.
