Hosts were hugely accommodating. We were on a big cycle trip and hadn't planned dinner (/forgot it would be a Sunday), so they drove is to a nearby takeaway. Absolutely above and beyond.

Booked this as it was only 3 miles from where I was to do some work. The room was spotless, plenty of tea and coffee and a bottle of water, a real mug and a real glass for the water! Plenty of toiletries. Lovely breakfast cooked to order. Sadly the bar and kitchen are closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but I was may aware of this at the time of booking and they supplied me with information on local restaurants and take aways. Great parking.

We stayed here a year and a half ago just as the new owners were taking over and the place has been transformed. Lovely clean room with a complementary bottle of wine which was a lovely extra. We had dinner and drinks in the restaurant which was very tasty and really good value for money and it had a lovely atmosphere with a cosy wood burning fire. We opted for a rate with breakfast which again was fantastic with great quality ingredients and my daughter loved the hot chocolate. Would definitely recommend and we will definitely be back.

Have stayed at this site many times and have found egress from the site can be risky. We leave the site by turning left, do a U turn at next junction on right, then join traffic with good site in wing mirror.
We eat at several different outlets. Trelawney Garden Centre near Wadebridge recommended as is Trago Mills.

It is a central location which makes it a good base to explore from. We didn't actually visit the town but drove to the Eden Project, Tintagel, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Polperro, St Austell etc. The local roads are narrow and winding, it takes ages to get anywhere, and you have to reverse a lot back to passing places on single track roads! We are vegetarian and found it easy to find really good places to eat. I recommend visiting Olive and Co at Sibleyback lake.

The clothes drying outside was not the best as the sun wasn’t on the wash line much
However there was a washer dryer (which I don’t like) should you need to get something dry
We visited Newquay, Perranporth and Looe, the latter being our favourite as it was nearest and had crab fishing as well as the beach

The hotel is 5 miles from Liskeard, which we did not visit other than to drive through! There is at least one petrol station which we did use.
However there are plenty of places of interest within a short drive. We ate at Wheal Tor and several of the local inns.

The town itself is quite a depressed area and so not particularly touristy, but it is easy travelling distance from some amazing countryside and this makes a good stopover to/from places further west.
Stayed for 5 nights at this wonderful hotel. After some poor reviews for the previous owners, the new owners have worked really hard to re-establish this hotel’s reputation - and it’s paying off. Everything about our stay was fantastic. The location is great with stunning views across miles and miles of countryside, the welcome from the staff is warm and friendly, the room was spotless and the food, at breakfast and dinner, was beautiful. We could not fault a single thing and will definitely be back.
Everything was clean and comfortable. The hosts live on site, but aren't intrusive - there if you need them or for a friendly hello in passing. Very hospitable and nothing is too much trouble. The area is remote and therefore quiet - if you're lucky, on a clear night this also means you could get to see the amazing starry sky! About a 40/50 min drive to popular beaches like Fistral & Perranporth. We loved our whole stay and will definitely come back again on our next Cornwall visit.
A fantastic weeks holiday in Liskeard. Beautiful grounds the dogs loved it and the pool was just the icing on the cake. Amazing bbq lodge hubby thought he was a Viking hunter gatherer with cooking every night in there, never used the oven once . 🤣🤣🤣 All sole use only the sound of the birds and lots of wildlife for company. It’s definitely up there in our top list of 5 best holidays, needs to be seen to be believed, would absolutely recommend. 🌞🌞🌞😎😎😎
I was very well looked after at the Sportsman's Valley Hotel. This is a friendly, family run b&b at the pub. It's right opposite the railway station, so an ideal stay without a car. There are beautiful views down the valley at the back. The rooms are fresh, clean, and very well appointed. The evening meals are superb, delicious, and very popular with locals and visitors. The breakfast was wonderful. It was a joy to stay. Thank you.
Sportsmans Valley Hotel went above and beyond during our stay. We even celebrated my partner’s birthday on their pub and they are very helpful and attended our requests promptly. Compliments to the chef because their food is so amazingly delicious that we even came back after checking out that day because we would like to try more.
Shoutout to all the lovely people we met in Sportsmans Valley Hotel! Will definitely come back!
Cottage was quaint, clean and had everything you required. Attention to detail by the hosts brilliant. Literally in the middle of no where - where you can truly relax and enjoy the countryside.
Games room available with pool table & table tennis great for entertainment in the evening - distracting the kids away from devices.
Loved the Forrest area to walk the dog and enjoy fire pit one evening.
This was an excellent accommodation for us ( 2 families with 4 adults and 4 children in total). It was like a home away from home :) We used this as a base o explore different parts of Cornwall. Ashley, the host was very helpful with directions and other information about the house and local amenities. Overall, a great experience ! Thanks,
It was a lovely stay. A wonderful place and view. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We stayed 2 nights with 3 children in a hotel room. Everything was OK. They have to do some improvements in the hotel, as they new owners, but the surrounding and staff made us feel perfect during our stay
excellent service and hosts were so lovely. the setting was on a beautiful farm for lovely walking and easy to access other parts of Cornwall. the rooms were very comfortable and we had a wonderful experience.
A beautifully presented and maintained property kept to a very high standard set in a peaceful rural location, yet very accessible to so many places in east Cornwall and west Devon.
A cosy house for a couple, quiet and full of personality in the middle of nature. Excellent choice for discovering and exploring the beautiful Cornwall. Highly recommended.
Lovely bungalow in a quiet rural location. The welcome pack of bread, milk, eggs and other essentials was much appreciated. Perfect base for visiting Cornwall.
