Downtown Reykjavik is full of life, joy and culture, so it can be noisy at night. We recommend enjoying the live music at the bar downstairs, which will stop at 11 in the night.

Really good selection of planned tours with knowledgeable and friendly guides. Sky lagoon a must. The extra for the seven step ritual not necessary, but a nice add on.
Whale watching, Golden Circle tour with the stop at the Tomato Farm and Horse Farm recommended.
Plenty of museums to visit and choice of eateries. Try the Food Hall. Public Transport recommended, especially from the Airport.

We didn't see any of the sights we had planned to visit in Reykjavik. We had so many issues trying to get into the hotel. When we finally got access to a 'waiting room', we dared not to leave in case we couldn't get back in.
Shared the space with other "unsuspecting" travellers who had the same difficulties getting inside. This was not a good experience for senior travellers who are used to entering a hotel in normal fashion. Our friend travelling with us had mobility issues and was on a different floor and had to access her room using different sets of stairs to get to her room. We found out the night before that the hotel had changed to be self access.

We had a wonderful visit to Reykjavik, before our NCL Cruise. The city was beautiful, and we highly recommend staying at the Vintage Hotel! Staff was accommodating, and wonderful, allowing us to check in early, so we could enjoy our Reykjavik Food Walk. The food walk excursion was probably one of the best my wife and I have ever experienced. The Vintage Hotel is located across the street from a really nice breakfast restaurant, which we enjoyed both mornings. We will be back! Shopping and lots of tourist sites are all within walking distance of the Vintage. We also recommend the Godafoss Waterfalls and Hot Springs excursion.

I do not recommend Reykjavik to visit at all.
I do not recommend Reykjavik to visit at all. I visited at the beginning of June. It was extremely cold and windy, which made walking very difficult. I almost lost my scarf due to heavy winds. It even hailed!
There is not much to see or do unless you like snow or snowmobiling. Then you should come in the winter and also go on a monster truck trip on ice.
Hiking may be a good activity. Everything else is very overrated.
The nature does not look real; there is no normal looking soil, mostly rocky terrains or volcanic turf Very limited kind of short trees.
Very very expensive, especially restaurants! No meal is less than 40$.
Overall, it's depressing. People are nice but cold, just like the weather.
The only nice activity is hot springs. I really liked the Sky Lagoon, and I would definitely recommend going there to relax your nerves!

First tip for travelers, check the weather forecast and prepare for all options. Weather is changeable, but other than that, Reykjavik is a wonderful city for travelers, The hotel options are amazing and there are so many wonderful things to see and do. The museums, shopping, and restaurants are varied and so much fun. The Whale, Perlan and Phallic museums are must sees.
If you stay downtown, almost everything is within walking distance. Taxis are plentiful and prices are reasonable. If you rent a car, be prepared to spend an inordinate amount of time searching for parking in the city. Free parking is extremely hard to find and you must have the Parka app to pay for parking,
The scenery outside the city is amazing. The roads are well maintained and well marked, Speed limits are strictly enforced via cameras. We found that out the hard way as speed limits drop quickly when approaching a city/town. We rented a car and spent 10 days touring the country. We had to quit stopping every couple of miles to take pictures of all the marvelous waterfalls and scenery or we would have never made our itinerary. It was breathtaking,,,
Most interesting - Golden Mile, , Glacier Tours, and the buffet at The Tomato Greenhouse restaurant.
We have visited Iceland twice and looking forward to a third.

My second time...great food, great sight-seeing especially areas with natural beauty. Easy to get around if you rent a car; most businesses do not have free parking, you must utilize street parking. That being said, there are some designated pay parking areas near/adjacent to most locations. Nearly everyone speaks English.
Great places to eat: Braud & Co., Sandholt Bakery, Baka Baka, Cafe Loki, Jomfruin, 101 Bistro
The staff was exceptionally nice and very helpful throughout my stay! The breakfast was delicious, traditional Icelandic foods and always kept well stocked. Coffee (from a fancy coffee machine), tea, and water was available in the lobby around the clock. The room was small (not unexpected), but kept clean and comfortable. Shower water pressure was good and warm water was plentiful. The hotel location was conveniently located near enough to downtown Reykjavik that walking everywhere was doable, but still in a quiet location.
We booked a private room with a private bathroom for one night.
It was really cozy, cute and clean. The bathroom was fully equipped and there was tea, boiler and a small fridge in the room 😊
We really enjoyed our stay at this Guesthouse, the guy at the reception was kind and the check-in was easy.
We surely suggest it and for sure we would stay there again! It's one of the cheapest guesthouses in Reykjavík and it's quality is not less than a more expensive hotel.
One of the cheap nice hotels I found in Reykjavik for thanks to booking.com. Very clean rooms. The hotel has really friendly staff. They were able to provide for my requests of cutlery dead of the night.
The location is also great! bus stops are near by. hotel also provides a pick up service from the airport for an economic fee.
Breakfast was also pretty decent. Not many vegetarian options but with bread and salad veggies, it’s also easy to set a sandwich. :)
Location was perfect. Situated right in downtown Reykjavik, Center Hotels: Arnarhvoll gave us the perfect mix of kitschy tourist traps and actual Reykjavik.
It was a quick jaunt to some great restaurants and views. Staff was always very helpful and quick to respond.
The breakfast spread was surprisingly great. Beats the hell out of any "continental breakfast" you get in the States - much like everything else in Iceland.
Hostel is located in the city centre of Reykjavik but still has large free car park. It’s very clean and has all the possible facilities: shared spaces like bar and good kitchen with option to make food, saving some money. Bed and room itself were fine, nice and clean, with good WiFi and charging station next to the bed. If you’re looking for a relatively cheap place to stay, this hostel is probably the best option.
Nice stay in the Center of Reykjavik. Breakfast was very good and the staff was very attentive and nice. We had a kettle and tea and coffee in the room. Even though we had a room on the first floor, it was still quiet.
Bus from the bus station (if you take the bus from the airport, it first brings you to the bus station and you take another bus to the city there) stops 1 min walking distance from the hotel.
We rented two beautiful apartments that were fully furnished. Apartments were truly walking distance from groceries and downtown. Very easy to recommend to anyone who wants to have a very central location in Reykjavik to see all the sights and sounds Iceland has to offer. Also only a 5 - 10 minutes walk from the coast road where you can see some beautiful sights of the snow topped mountains.
Eric the Red Guest House was amazing - the location was perfect being close to the church, downtown, cafes, restaurants, and right next to a tour bus stop. The room was clean, comfortable and warm. The staff are friendly, communicative and easy to contact. Kitchen facilities were great to keep things cheap(er). This isn’t a big hotel, it’s much nicer - more like a homestay or bed and breakfast.
This hotel was fantastic! Large room, plenty of outlets and luggage bench for two suitcases.. Only Iceland lodging we've stayed at that has had washcloths and kleenex. No refrigerator, but the staff gladly kept our food in their refrigerator. Great breakfast. Parking available right outside the hotel and short walk to main street in downtown Reykjavik. Requested mountain view was great.
EXCEPTIONAL value for the location! walking distance to downtown Reykjavik/all the restaurants, cute houses and shopping, 40 minute from the Blue Lagoon and airport. LOVED the communal kitchen and ability to cook and DO LAUNDRY on site!!!! that is such a gift to a weary traveler. The host is so kind and helpful. My mom and I had a lovely time. Thank you for your hospitality :)
Clean, great location, fabulous breakfast. Bathroom was spacious and had great shower pressure and lasting hot water, which is necessary after a day out in the chilly Iceland air. We stayed in another hotel in Reykjavik and four hotels all around the country and this was by far the best. Biggest room and comfiest bed. Will be staying here again next time I’m in Reykjavik.
The hotel is located 2-3 km away from the heart of Reykjavik. It is very convenient if you have a car (there is a big park in front of the hotel). The room was good and comfortable and the price was quite cheap considering the Icelandic standard. I recommend it.
Beautiful hotel in the heart of Reykjavik city centre.
Perfect location
Breakfast was so good! I definitely recommend including breakfast during your stay.
Very clean and peaceful ambience, even greeted with a cool jazz ensemble upon arrival!
The location was perfect as a base for our stay in Reykjavik, within a short walk to downtown and bus stops . Staffs were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and clean with daily cleaning. We would love to stay here again!
Good location - 15min walk to the church and the city centre, free parking, cheaper than local hotels (we had a hotel booking cancelled due to strikes so looked elsewhere). Host was welcoming and helpful and breakfast was good.
It was very spacious and comfortable. The bed was the best I've slept on while on vacation. It's walking distance from pretty much anywhere in downtown Reykjavik.
