The hotel was very clean and updated. We are traveling in a group of 3 and it was very nice that 2 of the beds were together and 1 was a little bit separate from the other 2. Also the breakfast staff were amazing. Trisha and Adrienne were there to help when it was very busy. Adrienne went out of his way to get my son a plastic spoon that we could take to use on the train and water for our walk.

We choose this hotel for the vicinity of the highway and the airport since we planned to do a lot of visiting to other cities. We visited Venice, Verona, Imola, and of course Bologna. We've had plans to visit Ravenna and Florence but we were too tired. It totally met our expectations. The breakfast was also great!

FAQs about hotels in Bologna

A Gourmet Delight

World-class cuisine is what Bologna does best. Nowhere in Italy, a country with considerable culinary heritage, is the food considered to be better than in this medieval gem.

Bolognese sauce of course originated here, but to try the real thing look for "ragú" on the menu. Cold meats and cheeses are also exquisite. Make sure you save plenty of time for eating – the Bolognese like to savor their food, so a meal can last for hours.

Many of the best eateries and homemade ice cream shops are found behind the mile upon mile of porticoed streets, now UNESCO World Heritage sites. The complex of medieval churches and buildings in cobbled Piazza Santo Stefano is a tranquil spot to explore. Climb one of the Two Towers nearby (not the one leaning at a startling angle) for spectacular views of this red-roof city.

The focal point of Bologna is huge Piazza Maggiore, whose Santo Petronio church has an unimpressive, half-finished façade that doesn’t prepare you for its sheer scale inside. Fanning out from this square, the buildings of Europe’s oldest university, founded in 1088, are home to the city’s best museums.

Bologna accommodations at Booking.com range from small B&Bs to luxury hotels, all easily accessible from Bologna Airport just outside the city.

Bologna is an underrated city in Italy.

Bologna is an underrated city in Italy. The tower leans more than Pisa, the streets are colonnaded and the architecture is beautiful. It’s peaceful and not filled with throngs of tourists even during peak season.

In comparison with Rome and Naples, there's not a lot to do. I wound up taking extra trips on the hop-on bus to fill the time. The food scene is decent and the churches and museums were good. Popular with tourists. Not a big fan of the Portico's the city is known for, which are everywhere and shade the sidewalk. No river runs through the city. Cars are restricted in the central area. Based on the reviews in Reddit, I was expecting more

Bologna is a charming city full of history, vibrant culture, and amazing food. The old town is beautifully preserved, with its iconic towers, endless porticoes, and lively piazzas. I would definitely recommend it to other travelers looking for an authentic Italian experience, without the overwhelming crowds of more famous cities.

Home to balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese and tortellini.

Home to balsamic vinegar, parmesan cheese and tortellini. A big clothing market too. Surprised by the monolithic buildings, lots of history and medieval style. Many archways over sidewalks. Tons of great restaurants- discover the street west of Neptunes Fountain for fantastic cheese and prosciutto shops and restaurants. Definitely visit the Anatomical Theatre and library- rebuilt after being bombed in WW 2. A walkable safe city with affordable great dining. Pork is used in most food. A local dish is tortellini in broth (brodo). The parmigiana is amazing! If you like charcuterie this is a must! The pickled vegetables were fabulous too. A foodie destination.

too HOT. The city center has no trees, to keep cold... the whole center is under construction... they are replacing the TRAM... THEY SHOULD REMOVE THE TRAM, since it is and old means of transportation, and it take up all the space... it is much better to uses the busses. the "train" from the airport si TOO EXPENSIVE, and you have to wait in an area without AC. Bus tickets are very hard to find. Ex: at the central station, there was a single ticket machine, and it was broken. the streets have to many holes... the busses are not confortable... too many VAGABONDS and black people, roaming on the streets, day and night. IT IS NOT SAFE TO WALK ALONE ON THE STREETS !!! Restaurants in the center are VERY EXPENSIVE... you feel robbed... and they put the service charge... but we already give you A TIP... so why do they put the service tax, if they received a tip? The park was DESOLANT... a very, very bad impression. not enough fountains in the town! too many statues of priests... and too many streets with all kind of "saints"...

A beautiful city with plenty of other places within an hour or so train ride: Parma (cheese and ham), Modena (balsamic and Ferari), Florence (go early to avoid tourist crowds), Ferrara (old world) and loads of others. Use TikTok/Insta to work out where everyone is going and AVOID THEM. There are loads of superb places that are not promoted on Socials and you will avoid the sheep... err, I mean the crowds :) You don't need a guide, ask an AI app to plan a walk round the city. There is sooo much to see and do.

This was our third stay at Sav Hotel which says it all.It remains one of the best hotels we have stayed at in Italy. The bedrooms are excellent, the aircon is powerful as well as easily adjusted - not something that is always the case especially in 38* heat, breakfast choice first rate and finally / most importantly every member of staff is friendly, efficient and a pleasure to deal with.Everywhere is spotlessly clean too.If you are going to Bologna this the top choice.

Not just a hotel. It s a project!!! Friendly and polite staff, very clean, safe and everything well organized. Loved the bed and the bathroom. The location is fantastic, 3 minutes walking from Bologna Centrale so you can take the Marconi Express to the airport and trains to many destinations to Italy. I wish we could stay a couple of days more….
