The central location is perfect, the breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve ever had, the rooms are spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean, the walk-in showers are wonderful, the pool is terrific, the rooftop restaurant is delightful (as is the live music 3 nights per week). That said, what truly makes Koulen Central special is its exceptional, warm, friendly, attentive, awesome-in-every way staff and they are why Koulen Central is my Siem Reap home whenever I am in town.

The Grand Oak Resort is ideally situated just a stone's throw from the beach and local attractions. Its accessibility to restaurants and shopping made it easy to explore the area, and we appreciated the nearby public transportation options for venturing further.

Can’t say enough about how amazing this place is. Steven was incredible and made everything perfect for us at every turn. Food was so good, pool is outstanding. And the room was incredible. We had a garden and a palm tree in our bathroom and a little patio with greenery outside our front door. The grounds are stunning and the location is fantastic because you can leave and walk out into actual Siem Reap neighborhoods or you can stay there for White Lotus level of service and surroundings. I would come back to Cambodia just for this hotel!

Siem Reap is wonderful: a unique place and one of the most special in the world. It has plenty of bars and restaurants and a lovely riverside area. (The variety and quality of food is among the best I’ve experienced in Southeast Asia) It’s also very bike-friendly, with many dedicated cycle lanes (one extending pretty well all the way to Angkor Wat.) The Angkor Wat archeological park is amazing. If you have time, my advice is to go for the seven-day pass valid for a month. That way, you can spend a day or half day at Angkor, break it up with time in Siem Reap, and instead of suffering “temple-fatigue,” from trying to see too much in too short a time, really appreciate how special the place is. And, for me, the best way to see it is by bicycle. The terrain is flat. The roads are (mostly) good and quiet, and there are many cycle lanes. There’s plenty of cycle hire places in the area. I used Bayon MTB Project. The man who runs it is real bike enthusiast and is always working on maintaining the machines, which, in consequence are in very good condition. If, while in some remote part of Angkor (or anywhere else) you should have a puncture or other problem with your bike, he’ll come to you to fix things. He and his wife also do a lot of work with children in the area. Basically, then, good people, good bikes, good prices and great service.

I love nature / gardens so really enjoyed what was on offer around Siem Reap. Highlights were the Botanical Gardens, Butterfly Paradise, Angkor Silk Farm, walking along the river, tuk tuk rides into the countryside. Morning tea at old Raffles Hotel was also lovely, they have lovely garden and flower arrangements inside.

Siem Reap is an ideal place for those who are interested in culture, history and architecture. Even though the temples are in ruins they are magnificent. Angkor Wat is not the only important attractions. There are several equally interesting and fascinating temples in the viscinity of Siem Reap.

The town itself is tiny, but has a few bars, restaurants and shops. It’s incredibly inexpensive, finding places that have .50 cent draft beers was wild. The people are incredibly friendly, hospitable, and genuinely work hard to meet your expectations. A short tuktuk ride was less than $1, the street was fairly clean, we just had 2 beers because it was late and we were tired but the service was excellent.

This is a very relaxing place! The pool is right by the rooms and the bar at the edge of the pool. The staff are all excellent - nothing is a trouble. Reception can organise anything you want to do. The bed is comfortable and the airconditioner can be switched to quiet mode, which really helped with sleeping. Do use the hotel tuk tuk drivers, they are reliable and the cheapest you'll find in Siem Reap. They really appreciate your business. The patio featured an outside, full sized, functioning bath tub - my little luxury!

What a beautiful place to stay. This was our first stop in Cambodia and it was an absolute treat. We felt like we had stepped into a 5 star hotel - the staff here make you feel like royalty. The room was great, our balcony had no view or seating but the doors opened. We had a fridge and a kettle, toiletries in the bathroom and coffee sachets. Breakfast was a small feast every morning - a huge selection. The pool is wonderful - cool and refreshing and a really nice place to chill with swimming towels provided.

The property is even better in real life than the pictures! It is just a short 5 minute walk from pub street but hidden away and so peaceful. It is more like a 5 star hotel than 4 star. The staff were some of the kindest people I’ve ever met and they couldn’t have done more to make our stay really memorable. The food was also really delicious!! Don’t hesitate to stay here if you’re looking for the perfect place in Siem Reap. We will be back :)

This has to be one of the best places I had stayed in a very long time. I have worked in the hotels and luxury lodges in different corners of the world and this place does things right and it all comes down to the staff here. From the moment you are greeted to the moment you leave you are very well looked after. They all played a major role in our stay here. The rooms are very clean and comfortable and the food and customer service is great!

Probably one of the best places to stay in Siem Reap, but in a more trendy hostel/hotel place rather than a traditional and expensive hotel. Everything is very new and very nice. It's a short walk or TukTuk ride to the busy part of town near Pub Street and the Old Market. I highly recommend you do the cooking classes and ATV tours while in town too but you might have to organise them yourself.
