This hotel was fantastic! The decor and atmosphere are unique. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms and bathrooms are large by any standard, especially for New Orleans (where we found the rooms typically very tight ) Breakfast was also excellent. It’s a little out of the way from the craziness of the Bourbon Street hoopla.

The room was very comfortable and spacious. The bed and linens were very soft and comfortable. There was enough cabinet space and the bathroom facilities were sparkling clean and roomy. The location was a short walk from downtown and there were plenty of restaurants in the area to explore. The pool and pool deck was also very nice and had an attractive layout.

FAQs about hotels in New Orleans

Getting its Rhythm Back

The home of jazz, intriguing New Orleans evokes images of Louis Armstrong, wrought-iron balconies and mouth-watering Cajun cuisine. Louisiana’s largest city, the Big Easy is the beating heart of the Deep South.

Dance down Bourbon Street, where jazz saxophones ring out of traditional bars mixed with more colorful nightlife and entertainment venues. There are several New Orleans hotels near Bourbon Street, spread around the French Quarter with its distinctive Creole architecture.

To the south is Jackson Square, dominated by St. Louis Cathedral. Horses and carts wait patiently by the square, and locals set up their stools and start playing catchy tunes. Just behind is the legendary Mississippi River whose waters are still plied by paddle steamers.

From the river you get great views of the CBD (downtown) skyscrapers and the Louisiana Superdome. Booking.com has several hotels nearby, including some on Canal Street, where streetcars and the famous New Orleans Mardi Gras carnival pass down.

In the northern suburbs is New Orleans City Park, one of the oldest US parks and larger than NYC’s Central Park. Waterways lining it flow into large Lake Pontchartrain bordered by a bayou.

New Orleans is a unique American city with a unique culture.

New Orleans is a unique American city with a unique culture. The creole/Cajun food is legendary and it is almost impossible to get a bad meal. The nightlife on Bourbon Street is not for the "faint of heart" but even a quick walk thru early in the day is a fun experience that you will not find in any other American city. And, don't forget the beignets at Cafe du Mondo - don't think about the empty calories, dig in, and enjoy!

    Absolutely loved it.

Absolutely loved it. We stayed on the French quarter and thoroughly enjoyed the shops, cafes, and architecture of the area. You can get to so much just by walking which we did a lot of. There is a Walmart just a few miles away if you need other supplies. The only down fall was there is a large amount of homeless in the area. They are not a bother to people, just could be a culture shock since they sleep on the sidewalks. We would eat breakfast at Envie Coffee and Cafe nearly every day. They had a great variety of pastries, coffee, and wonderful omelets and bagel sandwiches. There is parking along the streets and lots of one-way roads so watch out. We up paid for our gated parking lot at our hotel vs parking along the streets. Well worth it to ensure our vehicle was kept safe. We stayed at Le Richelieu, and it was fantastic and pretty centrally located to all the shops including the French market. Another downfall is that Bourbon Street can get pretty crazy after 8 pm and even the locals will tell you to avoid walking around the area after dark. Stay in well-lit areas and to main streets if you do travel after dark.

We spent most of our time at a conference or with our local friends. This was not our 1st time to New Orleans. One can easily get to the French Quarter by the E1 bus and the Canal Street trolly There are many great neighborhoods to explore and to see great architecture, museums, and old cemeteries People are very friendly and there is a great variety of food

    Bring your shoes.

Bring your shoes. Not the place to be cute and it’s a very walkable city. Uber is pricey depending on where you stay and Bourbon Street is full of rotten fish smells and debauchery. I will visit again but stay on the quaint part of the French Quarter. It’s a very dirty city so don’t bring your best duds and be show offey cause it ain’t that type of party.

Amazing city with great vibes, music, bars and entertainment options. There are musicians on every street corner, the party goes 24/7, with people dancing on Bourbon street all night and overall happy, chilled vibe. Great food, the French District offers a lot to see, you can do shopping in the outlet store. Definitely a must-see location in the US!

What I liked most was the variety of authentic foods, the shops there had all the various souvenirs that reflected the city, the trolley rides were accessible, landmarks were posted, free maps everywhere, and helpful street people. Of course the undesirables in the street were unavoidable but not bothersome. Didn't walk after dark. Would have been nice if some open air jazz clubs were close by within walking distance. Perhaps more foot police presence at night would create a safety factor for walking. The weather was perfect. The river boat experience was as expected.

The staff was the friendliest ever. The room and entire hotel were so clean. Bed was super comfortable. I loved the chandeliers, the hardwood floors, and the art. The full-sized bathtub was a huge hit with me. I took a hot relaxing bath every night after walking miles in the Quarter. The location on the most beautiful street in the French Quarter is perfect...literally a few steps from Jackson Square. We have stayed at many establishments during our many trips to New Orleans, but this hotel will be our pick from now on.

It is a nice and quiet hotel that is just a block away from St. Charles street where there are lots of restaurants and a streetcar stop for easy access to the French Quarter. The breakfast is included and it is good spread given the pandemic with a toaster, cereal, yogurt and oatmeal. The queen room was an ok size for two people. The parking is free and safe with a security guard at night which is a big plus. The price of the room is reasonable for New Orleans, which is an expensive city in general.

Charming boutique hotel in a perfect location in the Quarter. Close to Esplanade Ave and quiet… away from the upper quarter bustle. Lovely and friendly front desk staff. I used to live in the French Quarter, so I’m visiting I don’t want to stay in a cookie cutter hotel. Via Convento was another perfect stay in one of my favorite cities. If you’re looking for turn down service and a chocolate on your pillow, this is not your place. If you want true old New Orleans charm… Give it a try.

Everything! The hotel was perfectly located on the heart of the French Quarter within walking distance to everything but just a little out the way of the noisiest streets. It’s a big old traditional New Orleans property and the staff are all super friendly and welcoming and helpful. The beds were really comfortable (something we don’t always find in hotels - often mattresses are uncomfortable) and the rooms had air con and a fab so we were cool in the Louisiana heat.

Beautiful hotel - the decor and furnishings are very tasteful! We really liked the location of this hotel, it's only a short walk to the French Quarter and that means you don't have to deal with outside crowd noise for the price of a 5 minute stroll. It's also the right side of the FQ to get to the Garden District. The quality of the breakfast was very good indeed. The staff were helpful and friendly when we spoke to them in-person.

Charming hotel! Looks a bit gritty from the outside but the rooms are great. Good vibe and near the streetcar. For $1,25 it takes you to the French quarter. One of the few hotels that doesn’t hide the parking costs. Other hotels, seemingly cheaper, charge extra for parking which makes it more expensive. I like that this hotel did no such thing and just put it in the shown price! Great stuff

Location is perfect for those who want to explore the French Quarter. The hotel is located on Bourbon street - the heart of the area, but in our room there was no slightest sign of noise from the outside. It is also located literally steps away from the most of good restaurants and caffees and Jackson Square and ferry. Staff is very friendly. Pool is amazing in warm days.

The hotel was very nice and reasonably priced for downtown New Orleans. I always felt safe. Breakfast was well-stocked and on time. Better than most free hotel breakfasts. Bed was comfortable. Room was quiet. I really have no complaints about this hotel; and would stay there again. Within walking distance to (1-2 miles....) to convention center and the French Quarter.

The location of this hotel was great! It seemed to be in the middle of everything without actually being so. We stayed in the Warehouse District which my husband was weary of at first. Once we got there though he loved it. If we wanted to go the French Quarter or Garden District we could just walk a block to get on a streetcar and go.
