Buxton is a lovely town with a beautiful theatre and the train station is central. There are plenty of shops, tea rooms, cafes, pubs and restaurants all within close proximity. There is a park and pavillion, which accommodates a gallery. Also, Buxton is a short drive from other tourist attractions ie Bakewell, Ashford in the water and Chatsworth.

Buxton has a lot of interesting places to visit and there is plenty to do in the day and at night. We stayed for two nights, but could have found plenty to do for a week. There are a lot choice of Restaurants and we found the ones we went to were very good.

The most interesting small city and worth a visit, relies on good weather and make use of the spa. Check the tourist places and consider the beautiful theatre and pavilion. I recommend the Old Court house Brasserie for dinner.

I saw most of Buxton but with a car there is so much more to see and do in the area. Had a night at the opera; visited Chatsworth and Hardwick (which has amazing tapestries and history but is further away and would not recommend if only staying for a few days); Eyam and its museum; a guided walk around Buxton; Participated in Park Run 15 mins walk from Grendon B&B; Less busy and crowded than Bakewell although definitely would recommend a visit there; Gardens lovely to wander around; Countryside amazing and beautiful to walk in.

Great walking, pubs - shoppping.
Great walking, pubs - shoppping. Train direct into Manchester city centre or the airport. Great rolling Derbyshire Dales - I even found the Derbyshire Distillery - Wireworks - they make terrific Whisky - its a beaut!
Lovely hotel in a great location, with great facilities & very friendly staff. Our room was spacious, nicely decorated with a very comfortable bed & a practical bathroom. Dinner in the restaurant was very good as was the breakfast. The hotel had an indoor & outdoor pool which sadly we didn’t have time to use, we would definitely like to stay again in the future & enjoy the facilities of this hotel. Highly recommended to anyone wanting to stay in Buxton.
The hotel looks neat and very nice. The staff very polite and so helpful. The rooms are comfy and convient (except for one point I'll detail later). I didn't realise we would have a shared bathroom (but that's my mistake, it was clear from the website I just didn't pay attention), but it was not a bad experience, the bathroom was kept so clean.
Location is convenient just minutes away from Buxton centre and easy access from the road.
Good location within walking distance of the main town centre and restaurants in a nice quiet area. The hotel has been painstakingly and beautifully restored. Rooms were large, comfortable and again immaculate with lots of nice thoughtful touches- big fluffy towels complimentary slippers, water and fruit. Also terrific breakfasts. Will definitely be our goto place to stay when we go back to Buxton
A lovely hotel very close to the Opera House & the Crescent with the art gallery & shops not far away. It's worth paying a little extra for a lake view with stunning scenery. My room was a spacious twin with an extremely comfortable bed. Check in was easy. Due to having to catch an early train, I had to miss breakfast but I was so impressed that I intend to stay here again.
A very attractive hotel from the outside and equally so inside. Made to feel welcome and at home. Relaxed and comfortable environment. Great attention to detail, making our stay as pleasurable as it could be. Excellent breakfast choices and all prepared to a high standard. Hotel staff clearly very well trained, attentive and efficient.
Fitted out to a very high standard. A quiet location very conveniently located just up the hill from Buxton proper - 185/186 bus stop very close by. Excellent kitchen, all plates, cutlery, utensils and cooking requirements provided. Bathroom very nice too. Main and secondary bedrooms with extremely comfortable beds.
Lovely hotel, it is an old building so there is lots of character, very clean, the corridors and room had been freshly painted. Breakfast was amazing. Location very good, lots of lovely bars & restaurants within walking distance. Bed was really comfy and room nice & warm & quiet. We would definitely book here again.
I thought the room was warm, spacious, clean and luxurious. There was a wide choice for the breakfast.I liked the old fashioned ambiance of an old grand hotel. It was excellent value for money.I've stopped in a lot of worse places than this that have had glowing reviews. It is under rated by far in my opinion.
Very good value.
Excellent location, right on the park in the centre of Buxton.
Very friendly and helpful staff, went above and beyond to take care of guests.
Excellent breakfasts - full English as good as any expensive hotel I've stayed in.
Very friendly hosts and staff and breakfast was lovely. Hotel is well placed for access to all local amenities with only a 15 minute leafy walk up to Poole's cavern. Would recommend for anyone who is looking to stay centrally in Buxton.
Excellent location near all the Buxton attractions. Good size room, comfy bed, very clean and lovely polite staff. Gerard was a great host. Lovely to walk through the park facing the hotel.
We regularly visit Buxton and mostly stay at the Old Hall Hotel. It is a very old building full of character and history. We will continue to stay here whenever we visit Buxton.
Location excellent, didn't eat breakfast. Room and ensuite fine, staff friendly and helpful. Will book the same hotel whenever staying in Buxton in the future.
