Lots of lovely walks, we ate at the peacock in Bakewell great food , the market was on Monday so had a wander round and went on to Matlock for a walk round antiques shops. There's lots of places to visit ,great pubs an well worth a visit . Bakewell is a great little market on Mondays to visit , very enjoyable ..can't wait to return ...
a nice town but can be seen in a few hours, the cable car is very expensive for what it is. walking along the main street not pleasant due to traffic proximity and noise obviously ideally placed to see the local attractions but Bakewell a much better prospect.
Matlock Bath is a really nice area! The cable car was awesome and we also we t to the aquarium which was kinda strange but cool and quirky! Nice area with good parking. The lights along the river at night are really nice to walk around.
I loved Matlock very easy to get to different places in my case by public transport, lots of places to eat and drink, due to Covid 19 staff in shops and cafes adhering to the rules and very friendly will definitely be staying again
Matlock is a little gem in the Peak District, my first visit to this part of the UK & I barely scratched the surface.I can see myself returning to the area for years to come. There are so many different places to find refreshment, staff everywhere were cheerful & friendly despite or maybe because of the times we are currently living through. I would be able to return with any member of my family & we would find plenty for any of them to do.
Matlock itself is a typical town, but is a great place to base yourselves for exploring the Peak District as you can reach many of the places of interest by car within an hour (we even went as far as Jodrell Bank in Cheshire), but Bakewell, Cromford, Castleton are easy to reach . If you like curry a meal at Maazi restaurant is recommended. Matlock Bath isn't too far away and a nice pub meal can be had at Fishpond pub. Peak Rail heritage railway runs from Matlock to Rowsley, but wasn't open due to Covid :(
