Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District.

Bakewell is a very friendly town in the Peak District. It is picturesque with lovely walks beside the river which is close to the town centre. Plenty of small independent shops along with other retail outlets. Loads of cafes and the deli was superb.

Plenty of pubs to eat and drink, good parking available in and around the centre £6 for all day up to 6pm and then £1 from 6pm to 10.00pm. The Rutland Arms Hotel has a great restaurant and bar which do great cocktails, you may want to book the restaurant in advance. If your into walking or cycling you can try the Monsal trail which is an old train line about 8 miles long cutting through the Derbyshire countryside and you will go through 6 tunnels, this is not a loop so if you go the full distance who will have to walk or cycle back. Along the route there are about 3or 4 places for refreshments, the largest of these is at Hassop railway station which is about half way, you can have any thing from tea, coffee and cakes to having a meal.

The village was a very quiet area, 2 pubs in village but no shop. This small village is not in actually in Bakewell, you do need to drive. Enjoyed the walk along the old railway line (monsal trail)

Bakewell is a very nice town with some good shops and near the famous Monsail Trail. Car parking is not good especially on a Monday as the central car park is closed as that is where the Market is held. That is the only car park open overnight ( 7pm onwards) The other car parks close and locked at 6pm! That makes parking overnight on a Monday a challenge.

Excellent location. Easy access to the centre of town. Bagshaw Hall is full of character and has a nice feel about it. The room was very clean and comfortable. Basically an excellent base from which to explore Bakewell and surrounding areas. Being able to park was a plus too. Having a kitchenette area in the room was very useful if you wanted a quiet night in. There is a great Co-op in town.

One of our favorite places we’ve stayed at! Not a grand or particularly luxurious hotel but full of character made even better by the wonderful staff. They went out of their way to make everyones stay a really good one. Food was very good too The hotel is in an ideal position for the Monsal trail with lots of other walks right on your doorstep. The views are spectacular!

We really enjoyed our stay. The barn conversion was well set up and it was lovely to have the shared garden as well during the heatwave. We also used the table tennis table in the games room. Views were stunning and the location is perfect for exploring Bakewell, Chatsworth and environs.
