Bakewell is a lovely town full of interesting local shops and full of character. We did find it difficult to find somewhere to eat in the first night as places were booked up or closed. We visited the Christmas market at Chatsworth and walked locally.
We love Bakewell. Stayed in this town annually for six years to visit Chatsworth House and the Christmas market. Quaint town with lots of independent shops. Local pubs though stop serving food between 7pm and 8pm so travellers planning to eat out need to be aware. The Peacock pub in the market square is excellent for food.
We were there over the August bank holiday so it was very busy. Felt pretty covid safe in hotel and out and about. Bakewell is very touristy - it's the nature of the place. We saw plenty of places to eat and drink but we did catch up with family so didn't use any bars or restaurants other than the hotel.
Great selection of local shops & market. Lovely river walk and village gardens. Clean, friendly, countryside vibe. Plenty of pubs for meals out. Great pasty shop/cafe where the proper Bakewell pudding can be bought.
Interesting village. It had a bank! Many outlets of good quality. Difficult to book an evening meal amywhere especially after 6pm!. Food patchy. Recommend Piedaniels french restaurant. Superb! Wonderful centre as a base for walking
Nice market town. Plenty of interesting shops (mostly small), pubs and restaurants, very picturesque, ideal as a base for walks or cycling. Plenty of places to visit locally. Avoid Bank holidays as very busy. Had 2 meals over 2 days - excellent (Woodyard & Piedaniel).
As central as you can stay in bakewell, very spacious but cosy bedroom, lots of fully opening sash windows and decent air conditioning so the room could be nice and cool on the warm night that we stayed. Room was very clean, spotless carpet, furniture and bathroom. Communal areas were clean and well presented. The whole hotel smelt clean and luxurious. Wanted to stay here for a while now and it didn’t disappoint, great visit when combined with a visit to chatsworth house.
Bakewell
It’s refreshing to stay somewhere that has a individual eclectic style. It also feels very relaxed, it was nice to sit in the Garden and look over Bakewell, which only took a few minutes to walk into the centre. I really liked the mini kitchen, we used it a lot. Carol and Martin were really helpful and give us tips on the local area and restaurants to go to. We would definitely stay there again!
Bakewell
just back from a wonderful three night stay at the Haven. Our first break since Last August and it exceeded all expectations, great location being a short walk from Bakewell centre and opposite a lovely park. Found some lovely walks down a lane behind the property, breakfast was great, room cosy and clean, parking available for guests and host was very friendly.
Bakewell
Place was great, unfortunately the bi men came at 06:00, followed by a bakery delivery, followed by a Restaurant supply delivery. Non of them for the Hotel but a joining places. Breakfast was good, Bakewell itself is very quiet after 17:00 and if you haven't booked somewhere for a evening meal by then, it's too late!
Bakewell
Such a lovely B&B! Very clean, quiet and well located for Bakewell town centre. Ivan and Elizabeth were lovely and accommodating and very helpful in recommending places to visit and eat. The room was clean and very comfortable, and the cooked breakfast was really nice. Couldn't fault it, would love to visit again.
Location is perfect for the trail and exploring bakewell. The staff were wonderfully accommodating and we were impressed with the room. Especially the big bathroom. It’s nice to have a big bathroom when you go away 😀. The food was freshly prepared and the ingredients were obviously good quality
