This hotel is located in a quiet location close to Sale Fell. Lovely room, clean and tidy. The shower was fantastic, especially the handshower was like a high pressure cleaner.
View on lovely maintained garden in true ‘geoffrey smith’ style.
The walk up Sale Fell which starts from the hotel is worth walking. The views from the lop are really awesome.
Located in 400 acres of deer park and woodland, this prestigious 4-star hotel features a spa with an infinity pool and a modern gym. The AA-Rosette restaurant has lake views.

The view from our room was fantastic. The staff were on the whole very nice. The location of the hotel was fantastic.
Against the stunning backdrop of Skiddaw and the Uldale Fells, this 18th-century country house is set within 18 acres of beautiful gardens and woodland, and guests can spot resident red squirrels,...

Amazing building and location, very friendly staff
In the Lake District National Park, Inn on the Square has a central location by Keswick’s market square. This family-run property offers Scandinavian-style design combined with Cumbrian elements.

A quiet little village in the north of the Lake District far enough away from the main towns of Keswick, etc. to enable you to enjoy the peace of the Lake District without the crowds. Some nice pubs in and around the village where you can experience the local atmosphere and mix with the locals. Best to have a car to explore the areas around the village.

Covers a Friday on an outward joyride <500 miles and an inward of similar distance on the following Monday. Allocated a large room at £119 on Friday and a noticeably smaller one on our return on the Monday at a rate of £129 - no explanation. The hotel allows dogs in dining areas and it was overrun, one customer had 3 dogs, all filthy. Hotel should allow in one area only

Good food, good beer and some nice wines. Friendly staff.
Good food, good beer and some nice wines. Friendly staff.
My room was a little overpriced for what it was (a small double) would be very cramped if two people sharing, but was adequate for the nights stay I needed. I travelled down from Scotland on my way home to London and stopped on the way overnight just to get a dinner and some rest.
The room was in front of a shared entrance so could be noisy and the other guest rooms were close so could occasionally hear talking and general noise. The window opens up onto the road and the car park opposite so can also get noisy if guests arrive or leave.
The location of the premises is perfect for access to walks and the lakes.

The Dining Restaurant and the amazing food & wine.
The Dining Restaurant and the amazing food & wine. Great staff, good humoured and very helpful. Cocktail bar is a must, Wow! Just stand and take in the view over the lake from the rear steps - Breath taking.
Excellent location on the flank of Skiddaw and a short drive to Keswick. Ideal location for the North lakes and surrounding area. We liked the farm environment and everyone was super helpful. The interior of our room was exceptional. The window was a bit small but as we spent most of our time out doors it isn't really an issue. We were able to plug in our EV for charging.
Good location for exploring nearby Keswick and surrounding areas. Stunning views from the back of the property. The cottage has great potential and could be a fantastic little holiday let but unfortunately all the negatives listed below really let it down. Hosts please take note because it has the potential to be great with more care and attention from you!
One of the nicest and best equipped caravans we’ve ever stayed in. Everything was excellent quality, the beds in particular were extremely comfy. Great walks about the park and only 10 mins from Cockermouth, 15 mins from Keswick. Amazing value for our week in February and would definitely return.
Very comfortable room on the edge of Bassenthwaite lake. Generous tea tray provided with homemade biscuits. Flowers on the windowsill were a lovely touch. We made use of the fridge to keep breakfast & picnic foodstuffs.
The luxury shower gel, soap & hand lotion were also appreciated.
Lovely compact cottage. If someone likes quiet holiday is absolutely perfect ( we did) 4 miles away from Keswick so only few min drive . Loved that owners were thoughtful and left all essentials: cleaning products ,teatowels ,toilet paper ,even milk and cake on arrival
Very special place. This gorgeous farmhouse was the perfect home base for our family visit to the lake district. You could spend your entire trip just enjoying the immediate surroundings. Everything was clean, comfortable, and like the pictures but more beautiful!
Gardens are beautiful. Bathroom was very nice.
Access to the fells Sale, etc. was excellent. They had two decent draft beers on tap.
Breakfast was very nice and a good selection from the continental area as well as the à la cart menu.
Plenty of good parking.
A wonderful cottage which was very well equipped and perfectly located for exploring Bassenthwaite and the surrounding area. We were left a lovely welcoming basket which was very much appreciated. We would definitely recommend Apple Tree Cottage to others.
We have visited for years since our honeymoon. It has changed and lacks the finesse and detail like fresh flowers and a lounge to sit in which most hotels have. We understand the changes are needed for it to survive and be economically viable.
Food was great: both breakfast and dinner were well up the standard we were expecting. The hotel staff were very responsive to our request for a room change. The location is just fabulous. And the hotel is very quiet.
Absolutely gorgeous old coaching inn in a secluded, peaceful spot in the Lake District. Dog friendly. Loved the old bar and beautiful gardens. The staff, (especially Tom and Sam) were brilliant. Food was delicious!!
Service from staff was excellent, very friendly and helpful-nice that they showed interest in us. The food was excellent with wonderful presentation. Hotel was located in beautiful surroundings.
The room was kept exceptionally well and clean and was in a great location for walks and only a 5 to 10 minute drive to keswick. Both Abby and Corinne were really good hosts.
We both really enjoyed the Drift Away massage treatment at the Spa. Evening dinner in the hotel was also excellent. Outstanding views from the dining room.
