Kacey could not be a more accommodating host. She also prepared great meals for dinner and breakfast and was able to accommodate all special dietary request for our group. To top it off her entire facility is extremely eco conscious. I would highly recommend the Burnside Cottage.

Exceptional site - 15 metres to a cliff top view, and unique character given their seal rescue facility.

The proprietors Euan & Emma were excellent company and very attentive to guests' needs. The hotel had an excellent menu with accompanying wines, beers, spirits, if required. The hotel also had an extensive range of locally-produced spirits. The accommodation was excellent and well-equipped. The only down-side was the lack of TV reception - although being without TV was somewhat of a blessing!
Emma and Euan had only got the keys at 3pm the day we arrived. They were perfect hosts, nothing was too much trouble and the Dinner and breakfast was really nice . We were honoured to be two of their first customers. We will certainly recommend the Castle Arms Hotel and will definitely return one day . Wishing Emma and Euan all the very best in their amazing adventure . Thank you too for recommending Rock Rose gin 🥂
Mey is a lovely spot. We used it for the Pentland car ferry to Orkney. Easy to find, plenty of parking, house is a tardis! We had a front room, large with a generous sized wet room, the view from our room was over fields and we had a perfect sunset.
Graham has put as many useful items in room as possible and more for cleaning bikes, cars - whatever. Breakfast was nicely cooked and generous. Super friendly host.
The hosts were very friendly and helpful. The Mey Hotel has a very nice tearoom and restaurant on site which was very nice and the food was good. The location worked for me, although it is a bit of a drive from Thurso town center, but close to other sites that were more important to me!!! The layout of the hotel is charming and the outdoor space I am sure is lovely when weather is permitting.
We were lucky enough to hit a special offer of a tasting menu by renowned local cook Chris Duckham of Cote du Nord, which I gather the hotel intends to make a regular feature. The meal was superb and made a great way to celebrate finishing Lands End to John O'Groats. Euan and Emma, the hotel owners are enthusiasts and made us very welcome. Rooms comfortable and well equipped.
Absolute gem of a B & B. Amazing warm welcome, so informative and nothing was too much trouble. Made you feel so at home and were very helpful in getting us a dinner booking at late notice at the hotel up the road. Added bonus we could walk to it! Lots of added extras for you, it just felt like everything was thought of with their guests in mind.
Lovely big house, great spacious drive. The owner was friendly and accommodating . He had a wonderful patter of one liner jokes! Lovely room, clean and tidy. Very covid safe! The breakfast was wonderful. All round lovely place to stay very close to the Castle of Mey and the ferry to Orkney. Well worth the money - in fact a real bargain for good quality
Welcoming hosts, great location and views. Lovely breakfast. Advised on where best to get photos of area.
Relaxing place to take a break from a very long journey to Orkney! The Mey Hotel for evening meal just a short drive away, that was exceptional and glad my hosts had recommended them to me.
Classic little Scottish hotel with bar, restaurant and comfortable rooms. Good food for dinner (reservations strongly recommended!). Nice full Scottish breakfast. Lovely hosts. Would definitely stay again if in area. Better deal booking directly through hotel.
Breakfast was the perfect full Scottish, loved it! Great location for Castle of Mey and Duncansby Head, both of which we enjoyed immensely. Nearby Mey Hotel provided a superb evening meal to compliment Graeme and Eileen’s excellent accommodation.
Nice, cosy hotel with a fine pub with local whiskies and log fire. Excellent Scottish and other dishes available in the restaurant. Perfect and hospitable hosts, kind and very informative about sights and attractions in the neighborhood.
Perfect stay to visit castle of Mey, or John o Groats, and make short walks on coast. B&B is very nice, clean and comfortable rooms. Very good breakfast. Very friedlich hosts
Great little hotel, clean comfortable room, brand new bathroom with bath. Big tick! Friendly staff, good food in a great location with a wood for the dog to explore.
