The location is absolutely incredible! You just walk out of your tent, down a short path and you're on a beautiful, pristine beach. On our walks down the beach we encountered howler monkeys and a really cool shipwreck. The hosts were incredibly kind and helpful. They were always available to answer questions and give advice. The owner's mother even helped me jump my rental car when the battery died. The tent was a good size and very clean and well appointed. I was worried about bugs getting in but we had no problems at all. The air conditioning worked well, which was a life-saver. For those complaining about not having hot water in the individual showers, I'm not sure why you would want it in that heat. The bathroom was more than satisfactory and the cool showers were refreshing. If I ever make it back to Costa Rica, and I hope to, I will definitely be staying here again!

The pool was clean and very nice. Our place was very nice, a lot of nice amenities and full sized fridge. Gas stove and pots and pans and full utensils. We had a king sized bed and it had a gated parking) The ocean was right across the street is with nice and loud waves (we could hear the while we were sleeping). The only clunky part was check in was unclear.

Loved this hotel. Best receptionist who hooked us up with Marco and a sloth finding tour. This was right across the street from the hotel within an hour we saw 15+ sloths!! In the ponds we saw amazing dart frogs. The classic Thai rooms now with AC and by the pool we so comfortable. This was one of my favorite places in Costa Rica. It is a close drive to the 2 snorkeling beaches. Highly recommend. Dinner and afternoon coffee in the outdoor eating area was very nice.

    We loved our beach cabin stay in Manzanillo!

    We loved our beach cabin stay in Manzanillo! We ate meals on the front porch surrounded by the beautiful garden, listening to the rolling waves of the ocean. The beach is just across the street, and the nature reserve is a five minute walk away at the end of the street. There is also a good Caribbean restaurant at the other end of the street, also just a five minute walk from the cabin. Our host was very friendly and attentive. It’s a quiet, authentic beach town, and much less touristy than Puerto Viejo. We plan to stay there again.

    Manzanillo is lovely.

    Manzanillo is lovely. The reef is regenerating so snorkelling good we did a boat trip to go snorkelling more and I saw a blue spotted eagle ray! Absolutely the best snorkelling in the area particularly near the entrance of the National Park. We had a kayak into the jungle which was lovely. We did a night hike which was quite an experience!. Manzanillo is quiet at night. The people are great! We rented bikes from Chile Verde where we stayed and cycled to the Ava project preserving Great Green Macaws. We also culex to Punt Uva. We also walked there on the beach. Manzanillo is great! We are at maxis and another cafe at the end of the road. We also had dinner at Colores with live music. Great food and service.

    If you made it until the Caribbean part of Costa Rica don’t miss out on this place! So friendly people, such a stunning place to walk around, explore and maybe plan to visit again for prolonged periods or even to retire at? (That certainly is if you like small, really small places and don’t need the buzz and facilities of “real towns, which aren’t that far away anyway)

    Manzanillo is a great place to stay, I think many people end their vacations in Limon here, and for good reason. It's a very small town and a very relaxing place, especially on weekdays. There are downsides though to being in such a remote town, namely that wifi wont be great and there are only about 2 small grocery stores, one that only takes cash. But the restaurants in the area are great, the beaches as well. I think the highlight is the refuge which is further south which offers a ton of nature, hiking and some nice beaches. Although be warned, the ants will bite you on the beach!

    Beautiful beaches.

    Beautiful beaches. Gandoca-Manzanillo National Wildlife Refugee was like a paradise for me: the forest, the sea and the view from the Punta de Vista was amazing for me. Life is exactly what I could guess, strange but vibrant, special but ejoyable.
