We loved the food although we should have paced ourselves...
We loved the food although we should have paced ourselves better! Lovely town and good connections to other places. Although you suggest that there are great activities for 'young couples like you' we are in our seventies but yes it was good. We mainly walked other than to get to the more remote restaurants. The walking tour is really worth doing because of the history of the place. Donostia is a Basque city and special. Lots of good places to eat - some not the places everyone goes to and which are overcrowded. Transport links are good and you can also book tours. Beautiful city. Lots of places to visit. Great food and people are friendly. Going for a Pintxos and wine tour is a must, and a 10-20 mins hike up to the top of Mt. The old town is beautiful as is the beach. The restaurants great and their food excellent. We visited at the start of the annual festival - without knowing this in advance - and the city was overflowing with people, which made it a little difficult to get around and find parking. It’s a perfect city for strolling around, shop, go to the beach (between the occasional rain shower) and eat the best Spanish food. The city is beautiful, clean and compact. We really enjoyed the location and the views from the apartment were great. Everything was within easy walking distance (bakery, grocery, shops, beach, train station...). The apartment is situated in a very quiet location. The property is good size for 3 people to stay comfortably. The kitchen had some basic cooking equipment. The bathroom shower is powerfull but on a smaller size and bathroom is missing some basic storage. Monica gave us clear instructions before arrival and communicated well. Unfortunately, the property is advertised as non smoking and there was a very strong smell of smoke present when we arrived. The owner tried to rectify it by giving us a small air purifier but it was very gimmicky and unfortunately hasn't done the job. We could smell it on our bedding too :( . We raised the issue with Monica but she insisted that apartment is non smoking. We requested a small refund but could not come to an agreement. Shame!Guest review byVikiUnited Kingdom
