River gardens, world heritage sites to visit, lovely micro breweries and pubs. Interesting restaurants. Traditional high street shopping. Posh cinema and entertainment in pubs. Good area to visit Derby and Matlock. Friendly people. Farmers market once a month. Street festivals at selected times throughout the year. Plenty of parking, some is free. Plenty of places to walk, the old deer park and woods as well as riverside walks. Great for families and dogs. Lots of property to rent and a nice hotel. You'll never be bored in Belper. So walking is best, visit Belper north mill during day and go to The Ritz Cinema at night, eat pizza straight from oven at lion hotel. Nothing to avoid. Come and see us and enjoy.

Belper is a lovely little market town, lots of shops that are not commercial, locally owned, and quaint, they have a lovely little Cinema that is very comfortable and has
settees for couples, and very comfortable seats.
You can have cake and tea and coffee or a alcoholic drink, etc, to take in while you watch the film, we went to see Kong, sound system is very good.

Belper is beautiful and quaint.
Belper is beautiful and quaint. Lots of nice little shops, beautiful views at the River Gardens. Very close to other nice places like Matlock-Bath, Bakewell, and Chatsworth House. Had a wonderful dinner at Yardley's.
“Excellent value for money. The room was spacious and spotless and the bed was very comfortable. Staff were all helpful and friendly. Will definitely stay here again when visiting relatives in the area.”
“The newly furnished bedroom was lovely and the food as always was brilliant. This was my 4th stay at the Lion which I frequented as a teenager, as Belper is my home town, and I am so pleased to see how it has been lovingly restored and improved”
“A very friendly hotel that was surrounded by breathtaking views, places of interest and beautiful countryside. Quiet and Peaceful the hotel was a place to relax and just enjoy doing as little as possible. The hotel was extremely pet friendly and there was no where that our dog wasn't welcome!”
