I liked the characteristics of the building as it looked like it had some stories to tell and one of the staff was very friendly and kind enough to give be a brief history of the building.

The location was within easy walking distance of the main streets in Haywards Heath, and very hand for getting a taxi from the nearby rank at the train station. Clare, our host, was really helpful with advice for somewhere to eat in the evening (Grape & Grain was perfect!) The accommodation was spacious, clean and functional and perfect for our short-term break. Clare was kind enough to let us park our car on the premises before check-in which really helped!

I booked the location because of its relative proximity to Knepp Castle, where my daughter had booked us on a Nightingale Safari. We could not do camping, glamping or AirBnb because of our dogs, and we needed somewhere with twin beds so that we could sleep well - especially since the Safari was at night time and we did not return until 1 am. There was, thankfully, a friendly and wide-awake night porter to let us in. We did not see much of Haywards Heath, but it turned out to be v. useful since our daughter could catch the train back to London. Lots of nice pubs for supper or Sunday lunch between Haywards Heath and Knepp. The countryside was lovely this time of year, with the new growth and greenery of May.

I was basically just passing through on the way further south so unable to give just comment on Haywards Heath in any detail. Generally it seemed friendly and village like. It was a good place to recuperate from a long train journey before onward to my intended destination.

Haywards Heath is a small modern town with easy commuting to London and Brighton. There are a good range of shops, including a decent Marks and Spencers an excellent Waitrose, Sainsburies, Tesco etc. Also a good range of pubs, restaurants and cafes. It’s small enough to walk around the town, but there are buses and the railway station is well connected. Parking is moderately expensive. There is a small but modern Hospital with an emergency room. The surrounding countryside is beautiful, with the South Downs visible from the town.

I have been using this hotel for the last 3 years, its a 15-20 min walk from where my Son & Daughter-in-law live. Its dog friendly, as we have 2 dogs and it's only a 20-30 min walk into Haywards Heath Town centre, where there are great shops, cafes and a great micro brewery, which is very friendly. We have had breakfast there, which is brilliant with loads of choices, if we let them we are having breakfast they set us a table in their sitting room next to the restaurant as we can sit with the dogs. Staff are lovely, very friendly. We are looking forward to our next in 2024.

We popped into town but think we weren't at the main part with the shops. We had a great meal and service at the nearby Harvester, Area nearby is very pretty but you would need to investigate places to visit if you were touring, not much to do We stayed specifically for a cheese and wine tour of the Bluebell Vineyard 15 mins away, but public transport was not available to the venue so ended up driving anyway

We ate in the bar one evening and had room service the other. The food was excellent: home cooked and well priced. The breakfast was also excellent with a wide range of choices of cooked food, pastries, fruit, cereals etc. Hotel feels well-cared for and staff were very friendly.
