Setting was great, very vintage with a lot of details and effort put in the overall interior. Our room was really great, cozy with big tub and view at the lake. Cocktails at the bar were delicious! All the people working there were very kind and friendly. Receptionist lady was during our check out giving us all the recommendations for our day with detailed route to follow-so nice!

Unforgettable Experience at Promenade 17, Oban! From the very moment of our arrival, the warm welcome and outstanding hospitality made us feel right at home. The hotel boasts elegantly designed interiors that exude both style and comfort. We couldn't resist the SPAGHETTI ALLO SCOGLIO at the dining room during our three-day visit - a culinary masterpiece brimming with Langoustine, Mussels, Squid, and Clams in a tantalizing White Wine Garlic Chili Sauce. Each breakfast was a treat to start the day. The hotel staff's relentless efforts to ensure guests feel valued were apparent throughout. A visit to Oban? Make sure Promenade 17 is on your itinerary for both accommodation and dining

it’s beautiful and quiet - off the beaten path. Although we arrived after 10 pm, which was long after check-in time ended, the staff graciously accommodated our late arrival and made sure we knew exactly where the key was, etc. they could not have been nicer. And breakfast was magnificent, with many options and basically however much, and whatever variety, you wanted.

FAQs about hotels in Oban

Gateway to the Inner Hebrides

Oban is a city built around a late 18th-century distillery that produces one of the finest single malt whiskeys in Scotland. This normally peaceful town is invaded during summer when tourists use it as a base to visit the Inner Hebrides islands such as Mull, Lismore and Coll, supporting its status as the Gateway to the Isles.

The horseshoe-shaped Oban Bay is sheltered by Kerrera Island with its spectacular Gylen Castle. Award-winning seafood restaurants and lively pubs line George Street and the waterfront of Corran Esplanade adjacent to the harbour.

Take a short walk up the hill to McCaig’s Tower, a structure based on the Roman Colosseum, for the finest views of Oban’s centre and the outer islands. When you get back down to sea level, stroll into and stumble out of the Oban whiskey distillery after sampling the local version of the 'water of life'.

Admire the coastal scenery as you travel a bit out of town to the 7th-century ruins of Dunollie Castle, home of the Clan MacDougall. The Firth of Lorn gives visitors a fanatstic opportunity to try some sea kayaking.

As the capital of North Argyll, Oban has a great selection of hotels, guest houses and B&Bs available on Booking.com.

We took a boat trip that was amazing ,we saw seals , dolphins about a dozen of them ,we even saw 2 eagles one had a salmon in its mouth ,they flew above us for a while ,it was exciting watching them hover above the boat . The girl on the boat was quite knowledgeable about the wildlife .We eat in the Pizzeria on the front ,the building with the red roof it was very nice we both 3 courses and a drink and it was£70 which I thought wasn’t to bad for the good quality. Its well worth the walk to the tower with the amazing view from the top ,

We were using Oban to access the Cal Mac ferry to Lismore, as my partner's dad is buried there. Everything went very smoothly and we had a nice sailing there and back. We enjoyed a couple of excellent meals at the Waterfront Sea Food Restaurant and ES-USK Seafood Restaurant. Enjoyed an evening of live music and a few drinks in The Oban Inn. Finished the trip off by visiting McCaig's Tower, with excellent views over the town, sea, and surrounding Islands.

Love this port as watching boats coming in and out to and from the islands is so interesting. Gift shops are lovely to walk round and we also enjoyed seeing the museum with artifacts from the wars as well as history of the town. We enjoyed going up to the lovely McCaigs tower overlooking the town. Spectacular views and interesting place to read history of

Oban is the gateway to the isles but is also such a beautiful and pleasant little town with much to do and explore. Something that is often overlooked but always a must for me is at the end of the day to head up to McCaig's Tower and watch the sunset over Mull, Lismore and Morven. A more beautiful vista you will struggle to find.

The coastal street was lovely and lively with bars, restaurants and hotels predominating everywhere. Of this main street and the standards and views are quite difirent. Of course Oban is the hub to catch a ferry to other islands and of course Fingals cave on Staffa. or take a local boat trip out to see the dolphins and perhaps, as we did, manage to see the white tailed sea eagle too. Lovely Oban.
