Stayed for one night while travelling The Wild Atlantic Way. Fabulous hotel. Super comfy beds (probably the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in!) Bathroom was a good size. Great shower. Great breakfast choices available included in our stay. Friendly and helpful staff. It's a little bit out of town if you're wanting to have a drink while you're out so the hotel rang for a taxi for us. Honestly can't fault the hotel at all. We ate out so can't comment on the bar food but the small bar is good and well stocked. Loved that there was plenty of parking on site. Would definitely stay here again

FAQs about hotels in Galway

Cracking City of Craic

Welcoming Galway is a small city with fantastic nightlife and an infectious atmosphere. Outside of the Galway Arts Festival, there’s still plenty of live music in the Irish pubs to get the party started.

The Galway Races at Ballybrit Race Course west of Galway Airport attract a good crowd, as does Eyre Square, a green space with flags of previous ruling families who gave it its nickname - City of Tribes. To the south are cobbled streets housing brightly colored shops and restaurants.

Sights in Galway include its cathedral and city museum which has an interesting insight into the history of the city and Ireland. Lynch’s Castle is the last remaining 17th-century merchant house, and the Spanish Arch is a small section of city walls by the Corrib River, linking Galway Bay to huge Loch Corrib. Where river and ocean meet is Claddagh Park, a great spot for a picnic with a view.

Further around the coast is Salthill Promenade, home to Atlantaquaria, Ireland’s national aquarium, focussing on sealife off Irish shores. It’s a Christmas Day tradition to jump from Blackrock Diving Tower nearby into the icy Atlantic Ocean, though you may well spot some wag giving it a go.

Booking.com has an excellent range of Galway hotels, apartments and B&Bs to complete your stay.

We found many old pubs with local musicians playing.

We found many old pubs with local musicians playing. A couple of the musicians are paid and the others travel from other parts of Ireland to join in. We hit 3 spots in 1 evening. We didn't need a taxi or bus because this BnB is close enough to town to walk, if your in fair shape. Pulling our luggage up hill on the firt day was a bit like work. I'm 64 and had no problems. Do bring a sturdy umbrella as the winds blow year round and our light brellies blew inside out.. Buying an Aran sweater was one of the highlights of this trip because of the quality knitting and whool and so many style and color options all in one shop. Our best meal in Galway were the mussels at Hooked. They were so scrumptious that we ordered more.

Galway is the cultural capital of Ireland. You haven't seen Ireland if you haven't been to Galway. Excellent starting point for all your adventures on the West Coast. Enjoy the pubs, the music, the craic and above all the friendly locals who always take time for a chat. You can't rush Ireland. Tòg a bòg é! Take it easy!

I was expecting to fall in love with Galway and the west coast of Ireland and I just didn’t. The town was extremely touristy and I vastly overestimated how long to stay there. We were there Monday to Friday but you could do it all in 1 or 2 days. We enjoyed walking along Salthill Promenade and watching people jump off the diving board. Sadly the weather wasn’t beach weather but it was nice to enjoy the sea air. We did Trad on the Prom which while super touristy did showcase some exceptional musicians and dancers. We had dinner one night at BoTown and the cauliflower ribs were the best I’ve ever had. Everyone enjoyed their burgers and fries. We had fish and chips from McDonaghs and their onion rings were to die for!

Galway always has a lovely vibe, with lots to see and do and plenty of bars and restaurants to enjoy. We were only staying one day but got to walk the town and visit St. Nicholas's Church, the oldest structure in the city at 800 years old. The exhibits in it were great in telling the history of the city albeit in a working church. It's also good to walk along the banks of the River Corrib see the Spanish Arch, Shop St. etc.

Galway is very run down. I went for a walk on salthill prom. The footpath was all cracks. It looked like it hasn't been updated for 30 years. Footpath around the on newcastle road was all cracks also. A lot of derelict buildings. Very disappointed. Why are the council not maintaining the city with the property tax?

The hotel is 3 minutes away from the city center and has a parking lot underneath, which is super useful. The room we got was spacious and the amenities as expected. The stuff was very kind and supportive. The breakfast nook is a bit limited in space and choices, however, you can order a british / irish breakfast a la cart; oddly enough, if you order anything different than a black coffee or tea, you need to pay a supplement. Given that this is a 4* hotel, these types of things should be already included in the package.

Located closer to the train station, the bus station and the city center. It was essentially a student room (402E), five rooms sharing a kitchen and a TV which can be connected to our phone or computer. Photos on the hotel website is deceptive and do not reflect the room.

The hotel is roght in the city center where all the pubs and stores are. The nights can get a little noisy but the windows block out most of the noise when closed. The owners provide you with a free pair of earplugs just in case! They are insanely friendly, too!
