SloveniaIt was waaay beyond my expectations - even though it's right next to the Icefield Parkway it gives you the feeling of remoteness and kinda going "back to the basics" - no shower, very limited internet access, in the middle of the woods, next to a beautiful river and also includes a sauna. The manager makes it even more moemorable with his dedication, passion, knowledge of the area and sense of humor ;-)

I paid nearly $800 per night expecting a quiet, nature-focused stay, as advertised on the hotel’s website. Instead, I was first given a noisy room, and then moved to another that smelled strongly of bleach and had a broken window. Despite my allergy, no alternative room was offered. The bleach fumes caused severe headaches that required painkillers, and by the second day, ants had entered the room. The Lake access can be difficult due to the massive crowds Lake Louise, such that hundreds of people walk 1-2 miles uphill just to get to the lake, because parking lot is full by 8:00 AM. As someone who visited Lake Louise in 2007 the experience was different at that time we could drive right up to the hotel and that makes it a difficult for people with disabilities. We loved sitting out by the campfire, reading in our room with the doors open and cooking dinner on the BBQ. It was such an easy 15 minute drive to Lake Louise too. We were lucky enough to see a moose cow with her calf in the forest on our drive in. They were super welcoming and helpful especially with parking and recommendations for how to get to Lake Louise without the Parks Canada shuttle. The whole hostel was extremely clean especially the bathrooms and shower which was wonderful. It is also easy to walk to Lake Louise from the Prost hotel (4km up hill). The hotel feels very comfortable and the staff and great. The rooms are big and the beds are really comfy.
