Surrounding countryside is fine as long as you like looking at cane fields and macadamia orchards. Local pubs and clubs are OK for meals. Bagara & Bundaberg are both very pleasant places to stay in. We were only there for a couple of days, and it rained most of the time. We intend to go again, and this time go to Lady Musgrave Island. As our trip had to be cancelled as the weather was bad & it was too rough. There is a lot to see & do around Bundaberg. It's a very nice & friendly place. There is so much fresh produce you can buy direct from the farmers. They sell on market place, when you get there they have an honor system. There is the bundaberg distillery, gin factory and if you want a nice meal you could try the Brothers Sports Club also grunskes restaurant they also sell fresh fish best prawns I've tasted in awhile. Great little town, very close to Great Barrier Reef (southern tip of the Reef is less crowded and is the best!) experience and boat to the fabulous Lady Musgrave Island. Plenty of places to eat and shop. Loved the trees full of colourful yapping birds in the town centre!

Would definitely recommend a king bed room. The highlight was they provided us each with a cold bottle of water in the room which was really appreciated as we were in Bundaberg in very hot and humid conditions.
