The hotel is immaculate and very well run. The staff are very polite and pleasant. The breakfast was quite good with fresh fruit and a variety of possibilities for the waffles.

Breakfast was ok. I would have preferred a location in town not next to highway, but this was all I found.

Hotel is right off the 401. And maybe 8min from the waterfront. If ordering a taxi, order in advance. As there are only 2 companies and it can take awhile. Used City taxi to get to 1000 Cruises at the blockhouse, right by Fat Les’s Restaurant. Great food, drinks & patio to sit at while waiting for our cruise. Our hotel room was clean and nice. Nothing special but again great for what we paid. Good little continental breakfast. Even had some hot stuff like scrambled eggs & sausage. Orange juice too. Which was great cause I’m not a coffee/tea drinker. Good selection. As they also had cereal, waffles, bagels, yogurt, etc. There is also a Japanese restaurant up the stairs too but we didn’t get the chance to try it. Price for the room was the best deal I could find compared to all other Brockville hotels that were well over $200 plus plus a night (to get 2 beds). Can’t wait to see what it looks like when all the Reno’s are complete and hopefully a working pool.

Reeked of diesel fuel on Rockport Cruises unfortunately.

Reeked of diesel fuel on Rockport Cruises unfortunately. Otherwise it was a great cruise! Aquatarium was a little bit of a disappointment. There was plenty of room in the reptile area, but they were housed in cages that I felt were far too small for their needs with lots of space in between. 2 cages were empty and had no labels as if the reptiles had died. I really liked the part where kids could touch the creatures of the sea bottom, and I will suggest that to Science North in Sudbury, it is an excellent display. . But there were a few displays that were empty, the place kind of looked like they were in the midst of renos. Also, it was really far from parking and since I used a cane I felt it overly difficult. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I did find a plush beaver for a very reasonable price in the gift shop.

Brockville is an interesting small city of 22,000 to visit.

Brockville is an interesting small city of 22,000 to visit. It has a variety of restaurants, shopping and being on the north shore of the Saint Lawrence River and close to Prescott, Gananoque and Kingston there are numerous islands on this stretch of the river and, therefore, many cruises available. Fortunately, during our week there, the weather was magnificent which permitted us to do a lot of walking in the downtown core which has many splendid historical buildings to admire.

On this trip we had young family members with us and they had a great time in the Aquatarium . What a super place , its so child friendly we had a hard time dragging the children away from each area. We also enjoyed the tunnel experience and a shout out to Prehistoric World in Morrisburg . Overall Brockville made a great destination for a young family.

Begin with the visitor's centre for a map and update on all things in Brockville - they had many great suggestions. My top picks: The underground railroad, then follow the Waterfront Trail to the Museum (it was Great!) and continue on the Waterfront Trail for a lovely walk. Do not miss the Aquatarium. Take a walk around the downtown area to see many important historic buildings. For dinner, make a reservation at Buell Street Bistro - we had a wonderful meal and excellent service while sitting in their outdoor patio.

We were only here on an overnight visit after going to a show at the Upper Canada Playhouse. The weather was cool and overcast so although we drove around for a bit did not really take in the sights. The downtown area is a must to see though and holds an old time charm that should not be missed. From historical period homes and lovely shops/stores to visit and all set against the mighty St Lawrence River. We have promised ourselves to go back when it gets warmer and take full advantage of the area.

We enjoyed our 2 day stay in Brockville and found enough to do there. The town is pleasant to explore with some nice shops and restaurants. The museum and railway tunnel are interesting, the river cruise is fun, the scenery beautiful and the waterside location relaxing. Pace of life feels slow and this is reflected in some of the service we experienced in the restaurants. There are opportunities for swimming and boating but we did not try these. We also did not visit the Aquatarium but this looks good especially for children. Overall a really nice place to visit where the locals seem to take a great pride in their town and their history.
