The weather wasn't ideal - even though it was the end of May we assumed we would have sun / cloudy weather. It rained, a lot. We managed to visit Arthur's Seat - this was incredible and one of my main reasons for visiting. We saw Edinburgh Castle, visited a few restaurants and shops as well.

There’s lots to do for a short city trip.
There’s lots to do for a short city trip. Loads of art galleries, which are of particular interest for us. We spent hours walking and visiting the various historical sites. The botanical garden was very enjoyable. There are also more than enough good bars, pubs and restaurants. Location is decent for access to the Old Town, with a very pleasant 15-20 minute walk to the Royal Mile. The regular buses cut that time in half.
