Capital of Wales, Cardiff is a wonderfully green city steeped in national pride. At its heart is enormous Bute Park, divided by the River Taff and named after the marquis that once lived in Cardiff Castle overlooking it. In fact, this is just one of 5 castles within the surrounding area.
Over the road is Cathays Park, a beautiful square flanked by Edwardian architectural masterpieces including Cardiff City Hall and the excellent National Museum of Wales. Another must-see is St Fagan’s National History Museum, one of Britain’s top attractions.
From Victorian arcades to the fabulous St David’s Centre, shopping in Cardiff is a delight. And there’s no shortage of pubs and restaurants in which to rest awhile. Those by Cardiff Bay offer particularly pleasant views.
Also by the bay are the futuristic National Assembly for Wales and the Wales Millennium Centre. Another year 2000 landmark is the Millennium Stadium, a state-of-the-art venue for international rugby and football matches, as well as concerts. Next door is Cardiff Arms Park, home to the city’s rugby union team, while Cardiff City FC’s new stadium is in the west.
Cardiff Airport is further west near Barry and Booking.com have an excellent range of hotels, B&Bs and apartments both near there and in the city centre.
It's a totally walkable city, and very easy to get around.
It's a totally walkable city, and very easy to get around. Not a huge amount of things to see: the Castle, the Cardiff Museum (Natural History on the GF and art gallery on the 1F, including a room with stunning painting by Van Gogh, Monet, Sisley, Degas and other Impressionists), St John the Baptist's cathedral and Cardiff Bay. A weekend is just right!

Cardiff is an amazing city - from short breaks, to longer stays, there is something for everyone. We only live 15 miles away but stay regularly for the food scene and nightlife. If great choice of food, and live music is your thing, a few nights in Cardiff will not disappoint.

Visited Cardiff Castle seeing the outside of the Cardiff Principality Stadium en route. Cardiff Bay, Llandaff Cathedral, St Fagans, Caerphilly. Castell Coch and a nearby beach. Cardiff offers so much more we did not have time to see in the six days there. We will have to return!

Cardiff is a friendly city; in addition to the people, it offers a coastal location, an historic and picturesque Bay area, choice shopping, cultural events, and sports (mainly rugby!), often hosting international games.

There is not that much places to see and do .
There is not that much places to see and do . Quite small city. Such a beautiful marina. And seaside view. We went there by car so travelling it wasn't difficult for us. We stayed at Penarth Marina such a beautiful area. First night We had dinner at the Deck hotel where we stayed, it was very good. There are many restaurants around and in the city. There was nothing avoid on the next visit.
Lovely, comfortable flat with luxury touches. Secure parking a bonus.
Super clean bathrooms and bedrooms.
Perfect location for the pubs and restaurants in Cardiff bay and access to city centre.
Great communication with Sunshine stays, prompt response to queries and clear instructions about everything to know flat and apartment block.
Very friendly helpful staff. Clean and comfortable.
Mario on reception was extremely helpful. After having no luck with getting us a taxi to take us into Cardiff City centre he ran us to the nearest train station so we could get to the city from there. He went above and beyond to make sure we didn't miss the rugby! A real asset to the hotel.
The apartment is perfectly located in Cardiff Bay, with the restaurants and bars of Mermaid Quay a stone's throw away, and supermarkets, parking and bus routes to the city centre all nearby. The apartment is spacious and equipped with everything you would need for a short or long stay. Communication was excellent and access was simple.
Overall the property is excellent - in a great location with an amazing view. It is well equipped with everything you would need. I would say that it is tremendous value for money and I would definitely stay again. Private Parking space was great as well. Short walk to Cardiff Bay and similar walk to the city centre.
We love this hotel, and it’s history. It’s been brought back to life with care and imagination. Some areas need a bit of TLC but overall it’s beautiful. The breakfast was amazing. The location to Cardiff bay and city centre is great and there’s lots to do in walking distance. Each room has a huge jacuzzi bath.
I highly recommend this hotel if you are traveling with kids. There is a museum for children really close and the neighboorhood is super nice to go for a walk (much morr quiet than the city centre). The rooms are great, specially the beds and the views. There are plenty of restaurants around.
Brilliant location about a 8 minute drive from Cardiff city centre, works out about a £5-£10 Uber depending on the time. Beautiful view of the river from both the living room and bedroom windows. Very clean and well furnished apartment with an extra sense of safety as it’s a gated complex.
The staff in the hotel are by far its greatest asset - all of them super friendly and helpful, the receptionist guy was very sympathetic and offered us several alternatives when we asked to change our room. The location is also great, right in the city centre.
Just a short walk into Cardiff Bay. Lots of bus routes near the hotel, altho the city centre is only about 15minute walk away. Secure car park (for £10/ night). Really like having the benefits of a hotel but all the facilities in the room too for cooking.
Lovely little flat in one of the best areas of Cardiff to spend a break. Far enough out of town to be relatively peaceful yet still only a 20/25 min stroll into the city centre. Flat itself is delightful and absolutly perfect for a couple or single.
Loved that you had washer and dryer services available. The proximity to the Bay is great and to the performance we attended nearby. I like that there is a steak house so close to the hotel and check in and out was quick and easy.
The hotel has a great location: it is in a walking distance from both the city centre and the bay. It was not difficult to find parking. The rooms were quite clean and relatively sizeable rooms, and so was the lobby.
Spacious room, clean and comfortable. Beautiful furnishings. Staff friendly. Breakfast excellent. Great location. Near the Bay for shopping and eating but only 10 mins away from Cardiff City centre by car.
The room had all basic facilities like a hotel and the host was courteous to things when asked. Ikea is very near and can have breakfast there. Even cardiff city centre is just 15 min walk away
Good location in Cardiff Bay. Plenty of places to eat and drink within easy walking distance. Buses and trains from outside. Bed was comfortable. Kitchen well equipped
