A Feast for the Senses
A city of heritage, heart and of course Hogmanay, Scotland’s capital is vibrant and edgy. Whether or not you come for one of its many festivals, Edinburgh is quite simply a feast for the senses.
The wealth of Edinburgh sights ranges from Holyrood Palace to the Botanical Gardens, Princes Street to the Royal Mile. Overseeing them all is majestic Edinburgh Castle. Be there at sunset on a clear day to see the city below bathed in a warm, orange glow. Simply stunning.
Wandering the streets, the smell of fish and chips wafts by, with the unique twist of salt ‘n’ sauce – a must-try variation on this favourite dish. Follow it up with a smooth whisky and you’ll start to feel like a local.
For a taste of Scottish culture, a kilt-wearing busker often plays the bagpipes on Waverley Bridge, while traditional folk music can be heard in some Old Town pubs. Complete your stay with a rugby match at Murrayfield or a round at one of the city’s 14 golf clubs, and you’ll have the true Edinburgh experience.
Whether you are looking for hotels near Edinburgh Airport or accommodations in the city center, Booking.com has a great range to choose from.

I was here for a concert but enjoyed walking around the Old Town for the great atmosphere and discovering all the cute buildings, streets and alleys (Victoria Street and The Royal Mile are a must-see). Most historical buildings are within walking distance. The Edinburgh Castle is a must-visit. The public transportation is excellent and very easy to use.

Edinburgh is a beautiful city full of independent businesses and plenty to see and do. It’s perfect for any kind of hobby you have; shopping, walking, people watching or reading in cafes etc.
Walking around Edinburgh with the faint sound of bagpipes playing in the streets, artists drawing caricatures, a lovely man with an owl you can hold, there really are so many different ways to create memories there!
I highly recommend the Ghost Bus tour, visiting the castle and cathedral, and Frankenstein’s Bar!

The weather wasn't ideal - even though it was the end of May we assumed we would have sun / cloudy weather. It rained, a lot. We managed to visit Arthur's Seat - this was incredible and one of my main reasons for visiting. We saw Edinburgh Castle, visited a few restaurants and shops as well.

There’s lots to do for a short city trip.
There’s lots to do for a short city trip. Loads of art galleries, which are of particular interest for us. We spent hours walking and visiting the various historical sites. The botanical garden was very enjoyable. There are also more than enough good bars, pubs and restaurants. Transport is also easy, we visited Leith and Portobello, both were worth the short trips out of the centre.
Finding the hotel was easy enough, it was a little out of the way from the city centre, but still within a walkable distance to everything. The staff were really friendly and we felt looked after, couldn't really complain about the breakfast; not the best I've had, but considering it was included for a very reasonable price; it's a bit of a bargain, especially when visiting Edinburgh around the Christmas period. The room was a good size and off the main road, very quiet and all facilities were working as expected.
Newly renovated, nicely furnished, friendly guest house. Ian and David were welcoming, available, and helpful, with excellent tips and pointers on Edinburgh in general and the local area in particular. Breakfast was very good ("Lorne sausage" is an acquired taste, but it was not compulsory). The fresh bread at breakfast (baked in-house by Ian) is a lovely touch!
Location is decent for access to the Old Town, with a very pleasant 15-20 minute walk to the Royal Mile. The regular buses cut that time in half.
I arrived here with myself and three small children for a one night stay. The hotel is lovely and modern. I was able to leave my bags in the reception area with the lovely kind and polite gentleman that helped me as I could
Not check in until 3 o’clock. The room was modern with tea/coffee and nice and spacious. The bus top right outside of the hotel takes you into Edinburgh city centre around a 10 minute bus ride so it was easy to get around.
Also the breakfast was 10/10 .
The location was amazing! We only had a short time in Edinburgh and this flat was a close walking distance to the bus tour pickups, walking tours and the Royal Mile. We were able to walk to the Castle, Greyfriar’s Kirkyard (and Bobby), our bus pickup for a day trip to Loch Ness, the Edinburgh Dungeon, shopping, Victoria Street, etc.! An amazing spot in Old Town Edinburgh! It was also right next to a bunch of Fringe Festival happenings (though we left the day it started.)
it was a wonderful a stay at the Apex, one of the best Hotels I stayed with in the UK. Lovely and friendly staff, clean Rooms and spacious. Clean and modern bathroom. lovely shower gels. The location is close to everything, Shopping mall, Train station and Cafes. if you are visiting Edinburgh don’t hesitate to book at it. Also it is close to the Old town and a nice walk into the New town of Edinburgh.
we didnt try the breakfast so no comment on that.
Breakfast buffet was more than ample. GF options and best organised I have ever seen for guests with any food intolerances. Very practical and well organised hotel. Staff very professional and efficient. Great base for exploring Leith or for going into Edinburgh city centre. Family, couple, people on business friendly. It ticks all the boxes. Bright and airy. Would not hesitate to recommend!
Great hotel. Location is ideal, transport in to Edinburgh city centre is ideal. Bus goes directly from the hotel in to the city, bus price is cheap. Offer free on site parking which meant we had the luxury of being able to leave the car and travel without having to worry about parking. Breakfast had a good selection, food decent. Would definitely recommend to use.
The room was quiet despite the hotel being really busy. The location suited us as central Edinburgh is not a good place to have a car and bus travel to/from the city centre was efficient and reasonably priced (even running late into the evening). For those who prefer taxis we noted a steady stream arriving/departing with other guests.
The room was quiet as requested and spotless. They provided the usual toiletries and more importantly the aircon worked very well - which is not usually a given in European hotels. The district itself was quiet yet it was easy to reach the city centre from there. We would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Edinburgh.
The suite was in great condition, and the location is situated perfectly for Edinburgh. You can access Old Town, New Town and Dean Village from here by walking.
The Dragon Suites Team was available on call for any issues or queries that we had during our stay. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting Edinburgh.
Excellent location noy to far from city centre very clean hotel staff were really helpful and friendly and couldn't do enough for you room was fantastic would definitely book this hotel again if I was doing another overnight stay in Edinburgh been in a few hotels in Edinburgh and this was one of the best
Location was excellent. In new town but close to old town so you can enjoy all of Edinburgh. Apartments were roomy and we'll equipped. Check in and out was easy. Staff was very responsive. We had an issue with the clothes washer that was quickly addressed. Really appreciated the quick response.
We really appreciate how well furnished the room was. Bed was comfy, robes and stocked mini fridge was great. We also loved the restaurant bar area. It became a place for our party to meet. The hotel was very convenient located between Old Town and New Town. We walked everywhere.
Individual boutique hotel in an interesting historic building with lots of traditional features- felt like you were in Edinburgh. The suite was really big and comfy with a fab roll top bath. Great location as tucked away in a quiet street but a short walk to the city centre.
- fantastic location (right in the city centre, close to the old town, the castle and a lot of pubs)
- fantastic staff (gave us procecco when arrived and showed us to elevator)
- fantastic hotel room (very modern, clean and quiet)
- fantastic facilities
Very nice hotel in a quiet neighborhood .A spacious, beautiful room and very clean. It is 10 minute walk from the new town and 15-20 minutes from the old town. Also very close to Dean's village and a beautiful walk along the river Leith
Great location for Edinburgh castle and Old Town. The hotel was nice, everything was clean, breakfast was really good as was the bar food and drinks! Absolutely enjoyed everything about our stay here!
Location to train station and Edinburgh City centre, continental breakfast was fantastic, relaxed homely atmosphere in the hotel, cleanliness of the rooms and lounge area. Great city view.
