The dinner was exceptional and so was the breakfast. The Chocolate Nemesis is a must! We were only booked for one night, but came back to eat again the following evening.

Exceptionally friendly staff who went out of their way to make your stay comfortable. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the breakfast really was lovely. The breakfast area was very comfortable and relaxing. The rooms were adequate as you do not spend a lot of time in them. My husband found the bed comfortable but I prefer a firmer mattress. Bathroom was quite spacious, shower was good and there were plenty toiletries for you to use.
Serving local produce, offering a friendly welcome, efficient service and a pleasantly relaxed atmosphere, this former 18th century inn is ideal for those seeking to explore the Cotswold region.

Large parking spaces.
The rooms are comfortable. We had a good sleep even though it’s on the main road.

This is a beautiful village but The Lamb Inn was the only establishment open on a Monday so check ahead of time if you are hoping to wander to other pubs. It is extremely quiet at night and there are no shops. Chipping Norton has everything you might need and is only a short drive from the village.

Beautiful, clean room and bathroom.
Beautiful, clean room and bathroom. Fantastic food in the restaurant. Garlic bread, fish and chips to die for. Staff are very professional and friendly. The only problem was the sounds that we could hear from the people/children next door to ours, coughing, taking shower, flushing water, squeaky foor boards, their entire conversion early in the morning. It felt like they were in our room which is a shame because we have loved everything else about this lovely place

Shipton has loads of history to absorb.
Shipton has loads of history to absorb. Its miles from anywhere so you can really get away from it all. There are pretty walks and two pubs with good food, One more family/everyday with lower prices and another a bit more sophisticated and costs more .But both good food and welcoming.

Everything about our stay was superb.
Courteous staff that are so helpful, go the extra mile for you and are all happy at all times.
The room was spacious, clean and just right for us.
The evening meal was great and value for money.
The breakfast was fantastic with great choices either full English or continental and special mention to Michelle at breakfast time as she was so pleasant, refreshing and certainly did go the extra mile for all of the visitors. She and all staff are a credit to the Lamb Inn.
We fully recommend this inn and having stayed in lots of accommodation this is a hidden gem!!

A stunning property with amazing architecture.
A stunning property with amazing architecture. Lovely comfortable bedroom and very well appointed. Picturesque courtyard with tables and chairs for relaxing in the beautiful surroundings. Our host 'Bill' is a complete pro and a great character. He also cooked me probably the best Eggs Royale for breakfast that I have ever had in my entire life!! Good sized secure car park at the rear of the property. The village is 'chocolate box' beautiful and we enjoyed a stroll after breakfast around the Wychwood Wild Gardens where there were many happy birds and wildlife, enjoying expertly maintained woodlands and ponds. Highly recommend the Shaven Crown and its owner Bill who went the extra mile to make sure our stay was perfect.

Avery strange welcoming, although the man was very nice and polite, it was not clear where the check-in/reception was, he seemed almost surprised of our arrival.
Unfortunately, our room was dirty, a very strong and offensive smell on my side of the bed which made me feel slightly sick and kept me awake throughout the night along with the noise of the cars going through the village as this was a road facing bedroom.. There was a plastic container under the bathroom radiator due to a water leak. There was also mould growing in the shower and other places!
It's very odd as most of the reviews I have read about the property are very positive which was the main reason we booked this accommodation. It makes me wonder if maybe the cleaner was not available prior to our stay to keep the room up to usual standards?
I unfortunately will not be back, it's such a shame as i loved the character of the property, but could have had a much more enjoyable stay somewhere different in the Cotswolds for half the price!

We were a group of 4 and got 2 double bedrooms for one night.
The hotel is in an old country building and includes a nice restaurant where you can have a delicious English breakfast.
The rooms were nice and cozy, but one of the rooms was above the kitchen, so it was a little too hot (June - 23). The hotel management put a fan in the room which was not very helpful.
Maybe they should put an air conditioner in the room or at least a portable air conditioner.
Other than that, the stay at the hotel was wonderful.
We loved everything about our stay at the Summerhouse. The accommodation was delightful and for Salon Prive next year it will be back to Shipton under Wychwood. Martin and Lowri were superb, warm, friendly hosts. Breakfast was beautifully presented and delicious; due both to the quality of the ingredients and the skill in the kitchen. In summary our stay was a ten out of ten!
The actual Pub/Hotel was very beautiful - several hundred years old - and my room five star quality. The dinner in the pub restaurant was lovely and even catered for my difficult dairy - free needs. There was a wonderful fire in the bar and a nice choice of wines. the building is on a small road so very little noise other than the bin lorry at about 9:00 pm - so no problem
The hotel was charming - a beautiful mix of very old and tastefully renovated which created a relaxed and comfortable enviroment. The rooms were attractively decorated with all facilities, a comfortable bed and great shower. The Owner was attentive and engaging without it being too much and the food outstanding. The hotel was easy to find and had free off street parking.
Wonderful small hotel in a central location in the Cotswolds. Breakfast was included and was wonderful. Had, lunch and dinner at the hotel and meals were all delicious. Staff was excellent - friendly and helpful. Hotel and rooms absolutely spotless with lovely decor. An exceptional experience all around and look forward to staying there again sometime.
This was one of the best BNBs that we have every stayed in. Martin was a wonderful host, shared ideas on things to see everyday, and made us a wonder breakfast. Everything was just as respresented in the pictures and in the other reviews. There is no better place to stay for a few nights in the Cotswolds!!
Beautiful little hotel, good outside seating area in a pretty garden.Traditional cosy feel in the bar/restaurant,quirky nooks and crannies.Excellent staff, very friendly and attentive.Room 1 was lovely, nicely decorated and spotlessly clean.Food was very tasty and good quality although limited evening menu.
Stunning hotel very tastefully decorated with beautiful antiques, absolutely beautiful.
Martin was the perfect host who couldn't do enough for you friendly and very welcoming.
Delicious cooked breakfast will definitely return and would recommend to friends.
As a long haul pilot I have had many breakfasts around the world in so many hotels I have lost count....without a doubt this was the best breakfast I have EVER had! From the taste to the presentation to the view. Absolutely faultless!
This is a lovely flat well placed for the pubs/restaurants in the village, really clean with excellent facilities and within easy reach of everywhere we wanted to go in the Cotswolds.
We will definitely stay here again!
A fabulous hotel full of charm and character. We were made to feel very welcome on arrival and throughout our stay.
The Pump bedroom was so quirky with beautiful stained glass windows, it was a pleasure to sleep in.
Lovely comfortable and spotlessly clean hotel with
good food, friendly staff and also pet friendly. The village was pretty and was in an excellent location for visiting various locations in the Cotswolds
Very middle of the road, good base for traveling around the Cotswolds
Fresh milk was a nice touch
Breakfast on Tuesday was very good but went down hill by Friday when almost inedible
