Dalwhinnie is a small village that only provides for meals during the day (up to 5 pm). If staying the night, it is necessary either to bring food (to cook if feasible) or to eat en route; the nearest place for an evening meal is probably Newtonmore, around 12 miles away. The service station is open from 9-5 daily, but fuel is available 24 hours a day. Location as a one night stop over en route to Orkney is ideal. Very quiet even though it is beside the mainline train track, the trains when they do pass by are very few and they don't pass during the night time so sleep is not disturbed. This B&B is totally vegan and a rare find; the food is amazing and top quality. The owners are genuinely welcoming, lovely people.CatherineUnited Kingdom
