There is just SO MUCH to see! Pro tip is to wear very comfortable shoes. Trust me, you will be standing and walking pretty much the entire time. We were wearing sneakers but our feet started hurting pretty badly towards the end and we decided to breeze through the end just to catch a break. We didn't even go into all of the exhibits since some were closed during this time. It was also quite crowded, despite COVID-19 restrictions. There are some really nice pieces though, and overall I enjoyed looking at everything. I love this museum! Definitely go when you are in town.
The Gallery is huge. You should spend entire day only to browse all section. I like Impressionism section of the gallery. Picture of Rueon Cathedral, Lotus pond by Monet and Van Gough self picture is there. It will be much better if shop have more reproduction of pictures to choose for buying. They also sell cardboard tube to protect your picture, good for carrying picture around from city to city during travelling.
This is by far the best location to be in DC while staying for leisure, especially if you like walking for exercise. You’re 10-15 minutes from the Capitol building, National Gallery of Art, Spy Museum, and various Smithsonian museums located just north (unfortunately not all were open at the time we visited). To the south, it’s the same distance walk to The Wharf, where you have plenty of restaurants with good food.
National Gallery of Art and Sculpture Garden--Phillips Museum for the Renoir. Museum of Women in the Arts
Fyi: the East Gallery (modern art) of the National Gallery of Art is CLOSED for renovation until 2016. You can get in the building, but there's no art to see. They crammed maybe 20 pieces in a hallway in the West Gallery. Totally bummed. Hirshhorn under renovation as well- same deal, but def more art than Natl Gallery East.
