Dinner at the end of the pier. Kid friendly with a public viewing space on the roof. Food was good and watching the otters was a great addition to the meal and the atmosphere. Waitstaff was exceptional.
Taste ALL of the clam cowder samples you are offered. They are GOOD! Can never remember the name, but one little place smokes salmon right out front. You buy it different was, but I LOVE their sandwich. YUM! We also get their clam chowder in a bread bowl and the Mexican shrimp cocktail. We get two of all three and split them. We sit at the little tables, in the sun, dig in and watch the people. I've eaten at two other places and the food is fresh and tasty. This is a guy at the far end that has a perch for his birds on a cart. Donate a $1 and you can pick a bird to hold. They like to be stroked. One snuggled up to my husband's neck and didn't want him to leave. Our grown sons even got in on the action. Keep your eyes and ears open for sea life. If you hear the sound of something being hit, follow it and find a furry otter cracking a shell open with a rock. The sea lions are hilarious as they flip and turn, dive and pop up. You can't miss their barks. Plenty of ticket parking.
Looking for gifts to bring home? Make sure you stop at the General Store or the Pirate's Cove-just two of the gift shops. Hungry? So many to choose from. The ravioli is good over at Big Fish-but all are good and similarly priced. You can also book an excursion or watch the sea lion harp and bask in the sun.
I tend to "Wharf bum". I love just hanging out enjoying the views. I have eaten at most of the restaurants and find it hard to choose a true favorite. I love the one in the picture which is Big Fish Grill for its lasagna and views. However, the one behind the photographer, Crab House, reminds me of my New England roots. However, you need to check out Old Fishermans Grotto & Scales (sister restaurants) clam chowder and Cafe Fina's pizza.
NEVER had a bad meal here and I've eaten at just about every restaurant over the past 30 years. My best meal this time was at Domenicos' (if they have the seasonal bay spot prawns, you MUST TRY THEM!), but Abalonetti Bar and Grill can't be beat for their calamari. Also whale trips from here.
Happy hour at every restaurant. Careful with those chowder samples, they can easily become a meal, as they have them outside every restaurant........too much, you will miss the fresh caught fish all the restaurants serve. Check the outside menu for the preparation of the fish you want and choose that way. Otherwise they are all good.

The staff were so friendly. They made us feel so welcome & offered us great advice on where to go & what to see with their local knowledge, so we saw places we would not have found without their recommendations. We drove to Monterey so the hotel is just off the highway & is easy to find. The location is great & is walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf & The Aquarium. Oh yeah & the waffles for breakfast were amazing!

Great facilities , great location. Staff were friendly , pool was nice and you can even grab some beers at reception for $2 which is such an added bonus. Room was very generous size and we had a king bed, with a big big tv , we couldn’t have asked for better accomadation. Only 15-20 min walk to Main Street and fisherman’s wharf , highly recommend.

Everyone was friendly and professional. The location is excellent for bars and restaurants in Cannery Row and Fisherman’s Wharf. The free wine and cheese in the afternoon is a lovely bonus, and a way to speak to other travellers. As returning guests we received a complimentary bottle of wine and chocolates!

Clean and comfortable, about a 20 minute walk to Fisherman’s Wharf and 15 walk to Del Monte Mall, about 10 minute drive to Carmel, which is such a fab place, no facilities on site, a pool would have been nice, think it’s a bit pricey but corresponds with other motels in area, enjoyed our stay there.

Beautiful hotel in a great location. Five minute walk to the Fisherman’s Wharf. The king sized bed was really comfortable and the balcony was large and relaxing. I would highly recommend this hotel. We have stayed at a handful of hotels in Monterey and this was our favorite for sure.
