Sadly, Brisbane has gone the way of other Australian cities.
Sadly, Brisbane has gone the way of other Australian cities. First, they made the mistake of building a busy expressway along the river in the centre of the city. Then the developers moved in and replaced many beautiful Heritage buildings with ugly high-rise buildings in various hideous shapes. A few heritage buildings have survived and it is worth getting a brochure from the tourist information office to find them. The highlight of my week in Brisbane was a visit to the Mount Coot-tha Botanic Gardens, which is just a short (and very pleasant) bus ride from the city. I also enjoyed the art gallery. I also love the Roma Street Parkland.Guest review bySylviaAustralia - 10.0

It's a lovely quiet spot compared to a lot of other beaches/locations on the GC. Hire a bike from Kool Bikes in Coolangatta and cycle along the waterfront from Cooly to Currumbin - a great way to spend a couple of hours.Guest review byMaureenNew Zealand - 8.0
Cairns is busy and has a lot going on.
Cairns is busy and has a lot going on. It possibly suits younger people more. If you’re after reef trips or island trips it’s perfect. If you want a less action packed pace you should probably head to Port Douglas.Guest review byLindaUnited Kingdom - 8.0

To see all the attractions and tourist attractions guests would definately need to consider a hire car. We could not have achieved what we did without a hire car. Dining options in the Palmer Mtreet area are excellent.Guest review byRhondaAustralia - 10.0

I attended a cricket game at Harrup Park, which I had never been to before. Google maps made it easy to find and the facilities are amazing. One afternoon, I walked the Mackay Bluewater Trail. It was interesting and I felt safe on the trail.Guest review byKENAustralia - 8.0

This trip was a stopover after medical appointments within the City, and choosing to stay so close to the Grand Central Shopping Centre was an added bonus. Toowoomba has a lot to offer visitors and tourists alike, but not for us this time around, as shopping was on top of our list, and we were not diappointed with the variety of quality stores in the City.Guest review byDonnaAustralia - 10.0

Walking distance to everything, easy to get around, plenty of choices for places to eat as well as a great Cole's supermarket. You can be as busy or as relaxed as you want to be. A road trip to Daintree, Cape Tribulation and the Wildlife Discovery Centre is easily done in a day. A boat trip up the Dickson Inlet is a fun and informative thing to do. Snorkelling out on the reef is a must if you have never done it.Guest review byTrishNew Zealand - 10.0
Rockhampton Botanic Gardens incorporates a zoo.
Rockhampton Botanic Gardens incorporates a zoo. Entry to both is free. The gardens are extensive and very beautiful. There is a very nice cafe with tables under huge banyan trees which I enjoyed (excellent cappuccino). I also loved the zoo which contains a range of animals (mainly "rescue" animals). There are informative talks scheduled throughout the day. I was able to get close to many animals - my favourites were the cassowary, the dingoes, the emus, the wedge-tailed eagle and the funny little meercats. Unfortunately, I only had time to spend one day in the gardens. The tourist information office was very helpful. They gave me a bus timetable and a brochure about the area of Heritage buildings in the centre of town along the river. I enjoyed looking at the buildings and learning about their history. I also loved the art exhibition about Queensland in Rockhampton Art Gallery. I enjoyed my stay in Rockhampton very much.Guest review bySylviaAustralia - 10.0
