Hotel in St. Martin Guernsey
Located in the quiet, green valley of St Martin, La Barbarie Hotel overlooks Saints Bay. With a swimming pool, restaurant and stylish rooms, there is also free parking and free Wi-Fi. As I was here for work I did not venture out much after my busy days and being autumn, it was also dark. I am told the area is very nice and pretty. The staff were very helpful and where they sat me in the restaurant seemed to be chosen with care. All staff were kind, attentive and helpful. Was particularly impressed when outside the hotel waiting for a taxi that did not turn up - 20 minutes + late. the receptionist came out and offered for one of the staff to take me to the hospital (where I needed to be). That was above and beyond and very appreciated. The restaurant evening meal was very nice and I was fortunate to be there during their 'tennerfest' event, which meant 2 courses for£17.50 which was very very reasonable given the choice on the menu and the tastiness of the food. Unable to take advantage of the pool though - weather and dark nights not permitting.:)

Came to Jersey specifically to do the round the island coast walk. There was a high degree of diversity with commercial and residential buildings mainly in the south and east, vast beaches and quiet coast road in West and rugged roller coaster type paths and secluded beaches in the North which can rival the Lake District for altitude gained and lost in a single day. Lots of coastal turrets and guns around the coast pointing to Jersey's occupied past. Didn't really do the usual tourist stuff like the War Tunnel and Durrell wildlife park, but there will be a next time perhaps shared with the other Channel Islands next time. Overall well worth the trip. Buses seem to have a flat fare of £2 to go anywhere in the island.
The people are so friendly, the place is clean & there was much more to see than I realised. There are so many historical landmarks to visit around the island. I spent a week in Jersey & I'll be back to visit the Channel Islands again soon.
This is the more laid back of the two larger Channel Islands and worth whatever time you can give it. St Peter Port is the hub and quite manageable. The bus system should become your best friend, as for £1 you can see anywhere on the Island.
The large room was comfortable and quiet.
Good bar area and easy access to rooms and facilities
The facilities, the location and the attentiveness of all of the staff. Excellent customer service.
Everything: the fitness and wellness, the staff, the outdoor deck and garden...
Warm and inviting after travelling in awful weather
It’s in a great location and the views are fantastic
The check-in host Stephen was particularly friendly and helpful. He was especially considerate and understanding regarding a mistake I had made with my booking. Was totally my fault but he did everything in his power to help resolve the issue which I greatly appreciated. He deserves a special mention but all the staff were very friendly and accomodating and I will definitely be back to Golden Sands when I next return to Jersey
Great little getaway for the weekend. Will be back
Just a great stay - beautiful food !
Clean and cosy, spacy place; very kind and helpful staff.
Some say it might need updating , I say it has lots of character:) The room was big , apart from the window that needed clean everything else was spotless. The bed was big and comfortable and the 3 nights I stayed I slept like a log :) breakfast was nice and the ladies that served me were lovely and helpful. Easy check in and check out . All in all it was lovely and I would stay again for sure :)
Exceptional breakfast! Excellent room service, perfectly clean, everything you need including good tea in the room, a comfortable bed, a great club downstairs with live music (well done gentlemen!), Easily accessible parking great location close to the center. Ideal for me!
Great location. Great facilities - pool and gym as well as cafe if you were having a slow day. The hotel was immaculate. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were stocked with tea and coffee and just the basic toiletries. Breakfast was a bonus and, with the amount of people the hotel catered for, no request was too great.
The family rooms were excellent, comfy and clean, 2 bedrooms and bathroom. Pool facilities were great, breakfast was excellent and good choice of different restaurants. I needed gluten free choices and there was plenty.
Liked the location, breakfast lovely.

Everything it’s in a beautiful position very peaceful
*** 3 x location: (1) we had a room (#8) overlooking Portelet Bay so that we could admire around the clock the tide coming in and going out (2) the hotel is directly at the beginning of the coastal trail around Pleinmont “Peninsula” - no better way to enjoy the unspoiled beauty of its coastline, and the remains of the German WW2 fortifications (3) just a 10/25 minutes suburban bus ride away from the airport and St Peter Port *** big spacious room, especially the bathroom *** cozy character of the hotel, friendly service
The island is so beautiful and cut of from the mainland with no tv,s which is fantastic because you can just relax
