- Scored out of 10, guest rating 8.4Very Good - What previous guests thought, 408 reviewsI had been out on the hills in Torridon and due to poor weather on the hills I arrived about 2 hours after the time I had previously indicated on my booking. When I checked in I said that I assumed that I was too late for dinner and was told that the chef could do me a meat and cheese platter in the bar. The meal was excellent. At check in I explained that I needed to leave as soon as soon as possible after breakfast. At breakfast it was the same lady that had been at reception the previous evening and she did an excellent job in providing my breakfast as quickly as possible. The location is stunning and I will return again for a family visit.Guest review byMacWilliamUnited Kingdom

This was a stop of for us in out NC 500 tour ,but have been to Ullapool before.A lovely little town ,nice little independent shops, good eateries and a good starting point for exploring further afield. We stayed here this time to get the ferry to Stornoway on the isle of Lewis,a pleasant 2-3 hour journey.Guest review byHazelUnited Kingdom - 2.0
A poor and unattractive place.
A poor and unattractive place. Most shops were empty and nothing was looked after, except a superb flower garden around a statue in a little square near the hotel. It was difficult to find somewhere nice to eat. Quite depressing environment.Guest review bySimonUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Wick is not a pretty place, but it has plenty of history.
Wick is not a pretty place, but it has plenty of history. It looks tired and shows the decline in modern industry and is often bypassed when development opportunities are on offer. This is particularly so with the main truck road being diverted away from the County town. Still its good to see activity in the harbor associated with 'green technology.' The Norseman - great Sunday Carvery The Trinky and The Old Man of Wick - interesting history Getting Around - best walk it - you miss too much otherwise Use the bus to get around the County of Caithness such as, Sincair Bay, John O' Groats, Mey, Dunnet, Castletown, Thurso, Halkirk and Watten. A we excussion to Dunnet Head is good too. So Wick is interesting and good as a base to visit the rest of Caithness.Guest review byTonyUnited Kingdom - 4.0
Very, very quiet town. Had an apocalyptic feel at all time.
Very, very quiet town. Had an apocalyptic feel at all time. Really nothing to do at any time of the day. Local food selection (restaurant wise) is poor, Tesco is very well equipped. The town as a whole is a nice place to stay if you plan to only sleep there, a good connection to the highlands.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
A lovely little harbour village from our experience.
A lovely little harbour village from our experience. Lovely surroundings and a handy little general store, along with access to boat hire and trips etc. we were passing through as an overnight stay on the NC500 experience, and it was an ideal stop over.Guest review byLee.& TeeUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Strathpeffer is a very attractive small Scottish village.
Strathpeffer is a very attractive small Scottish village. For the size of the village it has four perhaps five good places to eat. Numerous old trees included a couple of giant redwoods usually found in America. Very relaxing place to spend a few days. It's also is a good touring base allowing you to go North, South, East and West.Guest review byGraeme J.United Kingdom - 6.0

We used this as a stopover travelling down from Orkney to Fife, the hotel was "just ok" but having to go to another hotel for a cooked breakfast made the pricing structure a bit over the top.Guest review byWalterUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Absolutely loved our stay!
Absolutely loved our stay! The accommodation was beautifully appointed and incredibly comfortable. The food was top-notch, and the bar was a real highlight—especially the whiskey selection, which is second to none. The village is charming and perfectly located for exploring the Highlands. Highly recommend spending a few nights at this spectacular hotel!Guest review byAntonyUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Nothing to dislike. Applecross Inn served good food . I took the pass road in. Magnificent experience but not for the faint hearted. The coastal road was also magnificent scenery which you could take time to enjoy.Guest review byElizabethUnited Kingdom - 6.0

We only spent an hour there on a Sunday so it was difficult to judge as very few things were open. I would suggest that there are nicer towns nearby. However, there is a petrol station and an art gallery plus a little supermarket. The little Natal garden is sweet and it is possible to walk along a promenade near the water.Guest review byLucilleUnited Kingdom
