Beautiful tranquil setting. The underground cave pool was AMAZING!!! Breakfasts were good. Loved seeing the tortoises wandering free. And I have to say a big Thankyou to Martin who helped us get rescued from the Cuota highway when we ran out petrol at 1.00am.

Service: I spent one night at Papaya Playa Project in a beautiful Casita with a rooftop pool, and it was truly unforgettable. There is something about this place that captures the authentic soul of Tulum. The sound of the waves, the scent of the jungle, and the warmth of the people blend perfectly to create an atmosphere that feels both wild and deeply peaceful. Watching the sunrise from my rooftop pool felt like witnessing the world come alive. The sea in front of me, the palm trees swaying in the breeze, and the soft rhythm of nature all around me created a feeling of pure magic. What I loved most about Papaya Playa Project is its energy. It is not just a hotel; it is a place that makes you feel part of Tulum itself. Everything here feels genuine, earthy, and real. It is a space to disconnect from everything and reconnect with yourself. My stay was short but soul-stirring. I left feeling renewed, inspired, and with a piece of this beautiful place forever in my heart.

It was an unforgettable experience! It was out of this world. We truly felt like it was an experience for our senses. One thing I can say is that the photos don’t do it justice. I tried to capture it but it’s not possible! You are immersed in another world and there’s so much to explore. You will feel truly relaxed. So many little nooks & crannies. Big kudos to the artists that created this space and the architect of course. And finally a big thank you to the staff who make the stay so enjoyable. Our biggest thanks is to Luis Poot who works as a waiter in the breakfast area Alixa - he’s a fantastic person and we enjoyed meeting him very much!! Thank you Azulik - what a place you’ve created!

Everything was amazing. The beach view, the semi-private pool, and the staff were incredible and did everything to make us feel special. We were celebrating our friend’s bachelorette party, and we truly couldn’t have chosen a better place to stay. Breakfast was delicious. Special thanks to the receptionist and our mayordomo, José both were so kind and attentive. Also, Cochary, the waitress at the buffet, was incredibly sweet and welcoming.

The beach was absolutely amazing. It was really sandy and I felt no rocks! There are also plenty of loungers by the beach. The staff was amazing. They are all super helpful and friendly. Our room was cleaned well each day and they swept the sandy floors! The pool was very large and not crowded which was nice as well.

For us its all about the people, we found the Mexicans full of humour, willing to help a stranger and thoroughly pleasant. Cancun holiday strip was created in the1960's and is home to a gazillion hotels and expensive tourist restaurants, the town however is wonderful. The bus system is superb, a 50p fare anywhere on the route. As a tip find a big landmark near your hotel and ask the driver to tell you when you are approaching, they will help you. The beaches are not owned by the hotels, and suffer from seaweed, but this is usually disposed off. Most of the ones we swam on have a fence to prevent you swimming in deep water ( Possibly to prevent seaweed coming in ?) The sunshine in February however made it all worth while.

Merida is the second safest city in North America.

Merida is the second safest city in North America. Safer than any city in the U.S. Second only to Quebec, Canada. And for the same reason: an indigenous population speaking its own language (Mayan), where crooks can't come and hide. And it's one of the oldest cities in the Americas. Great history, and a great base to visit the wonderful old Mayan cities nearby. It does get quite hot in the summer so consider visiting in spring, fall and especially winter. Wonderful people wonderful food, a must visit addition to your bucket list. If you go, you'll go back every year.

its quiet relatively . We found good places to eat . Osteria Veneziana offers a different but new menu everynight. The food was exceptional and quantities too much . There are numerous large supermarkets offering good food but all requiring a drive that crosses a dual carraigeway often needing uturns . It didnt feel safe at times but the drivers are mostly considerate and make allowances for visitors and pedestrians . We saw a man crossing the DC in a wheelchair . The cars stopped for him . The ruins in Tulum are great , better with a guide .

Antigua is a charming, colourful little town, aimed at foreign tourists. There are dozens of coffee places and friendly bars, with lots of options for local or western food. We enjoyed the little hiking trips around the town and the great views of volcanos from any of the roof top bars in the centre.

We enjoyed our time on Holbox. We spent time at the beach, and I went horseback riding! We also did an early morning bioluminescent tour. The next time we're on the island, we plan to make reservations for the tequila tasting and maybe try a cooking class. You can rent ATVs, so that would be fun to explore more of the island.

Most of all, it was the Guatemalans who made my stay unforgettable. Polite and friendly people, always ready to smile. Helpful and tolerant on the roads as well. Having said that, be prepared to run into very heavy traffic and frequent jams especially in and around the capital. I most enjoyed Petén (North of the country), where driving is a lot easier, and the scenery is breathtaking, especially in the jungle surrounding Tikal. I can also recommend the Rio Dulce area, which is very pretty and relaxing. Antigua Guatemala is a must, and I had my best dinner there.

A beautiful and atmospheric place surrounded by mountains, with friendly streets and good restaurants at fair prices. However, it’s very frustrating that the hiking trails are almost impossible to find; people come here to hike, yet the national park was closed. In the narrow streets, the car exhaust fumes linger, and it’s hard to breathe; the traffic is extremely heavy, even though the town could easily be explored on foot or by bike.
