The city buildings were very beautiful and nostagic.
Los Angeles

The city buildings were very beautiful and nostagic. The traffic builds your patience. The large park with a playground the lake was cool, but the water in the lake was discustingly dirty. There are not enough left turn signals. Watch where you park, most places are paid parking. Walgreens was a normal store, with free customer parking in the lot.

I liked the pop up taqueria stands on Reseda.
Los Angeles

I liked the pop up taqueria stands on Reseda. I liked seeing a portly guy sitting in the blazing sun at a bus stop on Roscoe at 9am polishing off his second Modelo then walking away, leaving the empties side by side beneath the bench. I mean, I felt for the guy--he might not be in the best part of his life currently, but it was certainly picturesque. And geography was astounding.

Los Angeles

As with most major tourist destinations in California that have existed for over 50+ years, major construction projects are underway in areas frequently visited by tourists. Beverly Hills and Santa Monica Pier were accessible but difficult to get to and crowded. Parking lot fees avg. $15-$25 and restaurants with valet charge same. Every hotel, restaurant and/or tourist destination if traveling by car, adds an additional avg cost of $100 per day to the budget. If I am going to spend an average of $275 a dinner for 2 (1 drink, appetizer, entre & desert), restaurant should not charge $15-$20 for valet parking. The restaurant should offer parking validation for free parking for purchases over a certain $ (ex: $150)

Los Angeles

Los Angeles has a lot to see, and we especially enjoyed The Grove, Beverly Hills, the Getty Center, Griffith Observatory and the coastal areas. The Grove is particularly nice later in the day when the atmosphere comes alive and the tram is running. Traffic and parking can be frustrating, and the extreme heat made some sightseeing difficult. Venice Beach Boardwalk was our biggest disappointment - it felt poorly maintained, the public restrooms were unusable, and parts of the area did not feel comfortable or safe. Santa Monica Pier was enjoyable but very touristy, and parking nearby can be difficult.

Everything you could possibly want to do is in LA.
Los Angeles

Everything you could possibly want to do is in LA. Walking on the boardwalk in Venice Beach, Santa Monica Pier are both a lot of fun, the Le Brea tar pits are well worth seeing, the Griffith Park Observatory is a great place to visit, and anything else you could possibly think of to do is here.

Los Angeles

I went for the KCON LA festival and the hotel was an easy 20 minute walk which was super helpful in getting back and forth from the convention. There was also a metro station not far so traveling to other areas in LA was super convenient. There were a couple nice shopping areas not far from where I stayed and I enjoyed just getting to walk around!

Our stay was in Hollywood.
Los Angeles

Our stay was in Hollywood. Unfortunately the neighborhood in and around Hollywood Blvd was very run down, the streets and sidewalks including the “stars” in the sidewalk were filthy, there was the smell of urine and marijuana everywhere, the restaurants were dirty and there was a lot of poor homeless people lying on the streets. It was a very sad experience and hard to understand how the local officials could let such a tourist spot go downhlll to this point.

Los Angeles

We stayed right on Venice beach. Plenty of great beaches and places to eat. Uber was the easiest way to get around and it was pretty reasonably priced. We enjoyed cruising up and down the boardwalk and the sunsets.

Los Angeles

There was too much traffic on the freeways and surface streets. Gas for ones' car was $5.55 per gallon (cash price), 87 octane. The prices in restaurants and hotels were higher than other places we stayed in southern California for the quality. Sales tax is also higher than other cities we visited in southern California.

Los Angeles

I stayed in the Fairfax/Wilshire area for its proximity to LACMA and the Academy of Motion Pictures Museum and the nice new subway stop on the D line. I ate most of my meals at the fabulous Farmers' Market across the street. I did not have a car but I got around well enough on foot or via bus or subway. LA is so sprawling that it's really necessary to have a car to get to places like Griffith Observatory and the Getty, but I knew I couldn't see everything in a short visit. I took an Amtrak train for a day trip to San Juan Capistrano and toured the old Mission there (incredible gardens!) and had a perfect meal at Trevor's at the Tracks. I also visited the Broad Gallery and the ASU Fashion Museum. I was very pleased with my visit and would like to go back.
