Rothay Manor is a beautifully presented hotel which is perfectly located in Ambleside. It was peaceful and tranquil. Both myself and my partner were made to feel completely at home at Rothay Manor. The hotel will forever be a special place for us as we got engaged on our trip. We will most certainly be returning!

Heated floors were fabulous and the small lounge area was nice. The little patio would have been good but a bit cold and wet to sit there. Parking was good and very convenient

The room was spacious and comfortable. The bar area was welcoming and cosy with its rustic decor. The 2 gents that were on both the Wednesday and Thursday night, behind the bar and on the floor were welcoming, friendly and couldn’t do enough to make our stay enjoyable! I know one of them was called Danny I really wish I knew the other man’s name he had a foreign accent, honestly a credit to the place!

A delightful spot in one of the most beautiful parts of the country - its the Lake District and its all in the name!
Ambleside Pier area is a charming place to stroll around, pick up a snack, feed the ducks, and just absorb the views.
The Roman ruins within 5 minutes walk are most interesting, as is the nearby "wilded" area.
Ferry trips run regularly from the pier - just remember a jacket, it can be breezy and chilly even on a bright day out on the water.

Ambleside is a good location.
Ambleside is a good location. We enjoyed Rydal Mount, a boat cruise and a visit to the waterfall.
The public transport network is great, not taking the car was not a problem. We travelled on the bus between Windermere, Bowness and Ambleside with ease.
I will definitely visit again, but next time I will research more of the local walks. There is loads to see, but I would like to know where I was heading and where to walk!

We selected Ambleside as it is central for touring the Lake District. It is a pleasant Town with plenty of shops & restaurants. It also has the biggest garden centre I can ever remeber being in. It was pretty busy even outside of a public or school holiday time so booking restaurants is usually necessary.

It was our first visit to Ambleside and we weren’t disappointed. We had a meal at Luigi’s which was amazing. The staff were very friendly and I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I am a fussy eater.
The weather was glorious so we had a few drinks in the beer garden at the Royal Oak pub.
Ambleside was about a 15minute walk from our accommodation, Windermere Rooms at the Wateredge Inn.

Great location for exploring central Lake District.
Great location for exploring central Lake District. Lots of interesting shops, bars - even Michelin starred restaurant which was stunning. Lake shore and beaches are lovely - east to hire SUP, canoes, kayak, motor boats.
Well maintained B&B with lovely decorated rooms. Although the hotel is very dog friendly, the room did not smell doggy at all. We Stayed in the Loughrigg room with our small dog for 3 nights, and Jane the host was very welcoming to us all.
Location is perfect, very central and close to anything you may need.
Breakfast was also excellent, and served by a lovely lady called Lillian. We will definitely stay here again, with or without our dog if we visit Ambleside again.
Fantastic little cottage right in the centre of all local amenities. Lots of pubs / restaurants on your doorstep. Everywhere was super dog friendly. Ambleside was a great base for us to explore the Lake District.
the cottage was beautifully decorated, lovely and cosy, with a smart tv in both the lounge and bedroom. The hosts were great, brilliant communication and very friendly. Couldn’t recommend more!
Very nice modern property in the heart of Ambleside. Dedicated parking right outside the door. We came in the winter but I imagine the parking space is worth its weight in gold in the summer. Comfortable and warm. Dog friendly with a great park for walking them 2 minutes away. Owners communicated quickly when we needed them. Full cooking facilities should you desire. Looks better than the photos.
Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room exceeded our expectations and the views from our room were amazing. A kettle with tea, coffee and hot chocolate facilities were included and there was a fridge too. Breakfast was really tasty and we had a couple of options. Located in the center of Ambleside and just a few minutes walk out from the shops and all the restaurants.
Staff were wonderful. Room was beautiful and really spacious! Breakfast included option made it amazing value for money. The breakfast running 30 mins beyond check out time really helps in the morning! The use of the car park until the next guests arrive is such a brilliant touch that costs the hotel nothing but would really encourage me to book again!
Breakfast was great and plentiful. It was a very dog friendly hotel and we were able to sit outside comfortably with our dog. They had also thougtfully left treats and a dog bed for our dog in the room. The hotel was also a little out of town but within a few minutes walking distance. Staff were welcoming and helpful.
Hotel was in a perfect location, lovely staff, amazing food and great atmosphere. The room was fabulous with added extra touches. Highly recommended the afternoon tea. Gluten free food options also available. Dog friendly so will bebbringing him along next time
The listing for the room we booked was inaccurate about the room size and bedding, but the staff at the hotel did solve the problem, and we ended up in the room we thought we had booked. The restaurant was really good.
Our room was in the Log House over the road from the main hotel. Loved the room decor, really comfortable bed and fabulous bathroom. Huge choice for breakfast, couldn’t be faulted
Lovely setting and only a short walk away from Ambleside centre. Staff and facilities were amazing. Was also very dog friendly which was a massive positive
Fantastic central location to Ambleside. Lots of local walks on the doorstep. The room was stunning, would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!
