Lovely hotel and peaceful area over the weekend - use the DLR at bank hall to get into central London - think if I was going to O2 again I’d probably stay more centrally as still a bit of a trek to get to the o2 from the hotel - staff and facilities were great though

Ah, London, you're a lady Laid out before my eyes

Ah, London, you're a lady Laid out before my eyes Your golden heart as pulsing Between your scarred up thighs Your eyes are full of sadness Red buses skirt your hem Your head-dress is a ring of lights But I would not follow them Your architects were madmen And your builders sane but drunk But a mystery of fading jewels Shine acid house and punk You are a scarlet lady Your streets run red with blood Oh, my darling they have used you And covered you with mud It was deep down in your womb my love I drank my quart of sin While Chinamen played cards and draughts And knocked back Mickey Finns Your piss is like a river Its scent is beer and gin Your hell is in the summer And you blossom in the spring September is your purgatory Christmas is your heaven And when the stinking streets of summer Are washed away by rain At the dark end of a lonely street That's where you lose your pain 'Tis then your eyes light up my love And sparkle once again

Theres almost too much to do.Something for everyone but I recommend planning well and checking for ticket bargains. Pret is a nice cheap place for a baguette lunch.Or The Sun Cafe in Lisson Grove for that full english breakfast or omlette or baked potato to keep you going. Dont forget London is also very central for visiting places around the edges of it like Kew Gardens. And Canterbury is very near by train 40 minutes or £10 one way by bus..but takes around an hour and a half. From Victoria you can also go down and experience Brighton beach for the day to chill out. So much free stuff to do in London and when I was there I was so impressed with being able to see a theatre production for just £10.Always a good idea to ask the clerk about cheap ticket availability. I recently discovered so many little gems..you should search out your own, there are so many.

Very good city to visit but you need to plan you days, make sure you get tickets in advance to save time and money and remember food and drinks are expensive. Use the underground to save on taxis and if you like a vast choice of food try the markets

We stayed near Paddington Station which is close to the West End with Marble Arch and Oxford Street a short walk away. Leicester Square , Covent garden Picadilly, Hyde Park corner, Knightsbridge and Theatreland are a short tube ride from Lancaster Gate station. We chose to eat in Chinatown near Soho and Shaftesbury Avenue where a host of stage shows are found such as MJ show. We would recommend a great Lloyd Webber production in Drury Lane called "Standing at the Skies Edge"

I have stayed 8 nights in this hotel for my first trip to London, I’m very picky when it comes to hotels so I did my research before choosing this one! There is a lot to like, from the lovely staff, great location that was very close to two tube stations, beautiful atmosphere to the historical side of the building.. the rooms were spacious enough for a hotel in central London, clean, beautiful and quiet. All of the staff were always helpful and friendly and the check-in check-out process was very smooth.

I stay in London for work nearly every week and have been trying out many many different hotels and apartments, but this was by far the best. Really easy to get to, really friendly staff, gorgeous decor and the studio itself was very cool. Fab decor, everything I needed to cook for myself and eat at a proper table! It was also spotless and I could not hear any noise from the other rooms. Oh and the bed was SO comfortable. Nevermind one night...I could happily live there (and the bar was a real bonus).

Hotel is decent, near the Paddington tube station. It's not at all high end, but then it's also far cheaper than higher end hotels, and is still in a relative decent location close to the tube line and railway station. Rooms were quite small, but par for the course in London hotels of this category. Room was cleaned well and we had no complaints with any staff members. Basic hotel, but decent value for the price and good location near Hyde part and transportation services.

I really enjoyed this hotel when I stayed there for three days several days before. I went off to the southwest of England and returned to the Sloane Square Hotel for one night as I had an early flight back to New York. I had an excellent room that overlooked Sloane Square but was very quiet. Great staff at the front desk that warmly welcomed me back to the hotel. This is a "real find" in an excellent location in London. I definitely plan to return.

I’ve been staying in cheap hotels part of the week for work since moving out of London about a year ago and have stayed in some ok places and some real dives (Not looking at you Forest Gate Hotel…) The Amhurst is easily the best of the lot so far. It was super clean, the owner was really friendly and it was generally cozy. Top marks. Bonus tip: ten minute walk away is a chip van that does the best fish and chips in London! The hotel is well located, being about halfway between Heathrow airport and the West End. We stayed here for two nights when we arrived in England then went elsewhere for several weeks then returned for a longer stay. We also stayed here last year. It is very close to the train station and has very helpful pleasant staff members. If/when we're next in London we'll certainly consider staying here again.

The location was extremely convenient for connecting with the Heathrow express, and a good price for London. The bed was comfortable, and the bedding was actually unusually soft for a hotel room. We found the sound of the tube (which seems to run under the hotel) rather soothing, like a periodic thunder storm.
