This is a quiet little town surrounded by mountains.
This is a quiet little town surrounded by mountains. A lot of serenity & quietness, very relaxing. There was a pizza place across the street from Rainbow that was awesome & had very friendly service. They were the only place open at 7 pm.
The restaurants close too early and some businesses were not open on Sunday.

Filthy floors, bathroom and microwave.
Filthy floors, bathroom and microwave. Railing on porch that was disengaged from porch floor could have caused SERIOUS injury if someone had leaned on it. A person would fall 4 feet and into gravel and a large log. No paper towels, hair dryer or bar soap. Fans that were provided were caked with dirt and dust.

A relaxed and friendly town.
A relaxed and friendly town. Judith at the visitor center was unbelievably kind and helpful as well as Ezekiel the manager of the rainbow lodge. They went above and beyond in every way. I will definitely be back!

South Fork is a small mountain town but has the essentials covered. It is a gate way to exploring the San Juan and Rio Grande forest. The best thing I like about it is the access to Wolf Creek Ski resort. It's only a twenty minute drive and the highway rarely close for avalanche mitigation.

We use South Fork as a jumping-off spot to go other places. There is not much there at South Fork. The area is beautiful which makes up for everything else. Dining choices are limited. Ramon's Mexican restaurant is pretty good but the wait is long. Two Rivers BBQ makes good hamburgers. I can't speak for the rest of the menu..

Spruce Lodge advertised BBQ dinner.
Spruce Lodge advertised BBQ dinner. When we went for early dinner we were told they were out of BBQ meat including any chicken products. We ended up eating deep fried fish and cold slaw. Not even close to what we imagined...
Had great experience at Tiny Timbers for breakfast. Great food and ambiance. Wait staff was excellent and helpful even tho very busy. Great boutique next door. Highly recommend this place!!
We really enjoyed the well appointed little cabin- we had absolutely everything we needed to prepare meals. We practically had the hot tub to ourselves for (most of) our trip and that definitely helped us recover from our deep snow day at Wolf Creek ski area. Great location west of South Fork, just beautiful. We enjoyed including our dogs on our trip and appreciated all of the available poop bags around the resort.
This is a beautiful property that is right near the river with amazing views. It is well maintained and the hosts are incredibly helpful. There are even selections of games and movies for entertainment. The decor is also pretty cool. The Master cabin we stayed in was the perfect size for me and my wife. It felt private, secure, and cozy.
Nice location. Clean rooms. Rio Grande river just across the road from property. The Host was gracious and friendly and made my stay more enjoyable. Good place to stay when in the South Fork area.
