Sorrento is an excellent location for a laid back relaxing break. It is also the gateway to the rest of the Amalfi Coast. We spent time walking around the centre, took a food tour, visited Capri and did a private tour of the rest of the Amalfi Coast. Sorrento as a wonderful place to visit, especially this area around the Piazza Tasso. Arriving by boat and seeing the historic Grand Hotels on the cliff above the port was amazing. The climb up the cliff to the city was a surprise - either be fit enough to take your bags up by foot, or take a taxi! Everywhere looks sophisticated and luxurious. We were celebrating our anniversary and found a wonderful bistro for a great dinner - but it was one of dozens of venues. Sorrento is a lovely place to stay, although not a great beach resort. If you stay in Sorrento make sure you get a hotel with a pool. Plenty of restaurants and bars so you can find a table at all times. The Circumvesuviana train from Naples is good value although going back to. The best place to base out if you want to explore Amafi, Positano, Capri and nearby areas. Well connected with the railways and boat and Sorrento is such a lovely place. The location was great, walk to Train station (10~15 minutes), walk to Porto di Sorrento about 15 minutes (remember asking Host for elevator), Host was very helpful, we stay in room #4, the shower space was in small size, but not bother us at all. (other rooms maybe have bigger shower space). Sorrento is a very expensive city, this property was great value for money. Our EU trips including UK, France and Italy.
