FAQs about hotels in Mexico City

Aztec Capital and Vibrant Metropolis

As one of the biggest cities in the world, Mexico City could be better described as an experience than a city. Founded in 1325 by the Aztecs as Tenochtitlan, it was both destroyed and rebuilt by the Spanish in the 16th century. Nowadays, it is the capital of the United Mexican States and its most important economic and cultural center.

The city center’s cornerstone is the famous Plaza de la Constitución, commonly called Zócalo. It's surrounded by the presidential Palacio Nacional and the Mexico City Metropolitan Cathedral.

The Avenida de la Reforma was built under the brief rule of Archduke Ferdinand Maximilian of Austria, while the deposed president Porfirio Díaz left a characteristic fusion of French-Mexican architecture. The 1960s saw a demographic explosion that only now is starting to be completely absorbed.

From the Chapultepec Parks and the chic Polanco, to the gay area of Zona Rosa and the Bohemian and intellectual Coyoacán: let Mexico City tell you its thousand secrets and stories.

Most of the hotels are located around the Reforma area, the Insurgentes Avenue and the Zócalo. If you’re looking for 5-star hotels in Mexico City, the modern Santa Fe area has a recently redeveloped business sector.

Mexico City did not disappoint; it was full of culture and delicious food. My favorite tour was the hot air balloon ride over the Teotihuacan pyramids. Museums and historical sites are a must. I would avoid eating at places where they have staff screaming at you to come in and try their food. We ate some terrace with a view of the Zocalo, the view was beautiful, but the food was the worst.

We stayed in Coyoacan which is a charming neighborhood in Mexico City. The area is rich in culture, has amazing restaurants and the people are very friendly. In most cases, there were english-speaking staff at the restaurants and shops. I would highly recommend Coyoacan if you are considering staying in Mexico City. We felt very safe walking around the area the entire time we were there. Such an amazing experience!

During my stay I choose Calle Culiacan because many tourists live or visit the area, but also because many places to explore are not far, always use taxies that the hotel call or the ones that are controlled by the agency, ask before you take the taxy how much they will cost you do not allow them to rob you, if you like the service of one ask for their contact info. the regular price for 30 min distance regular price is $380 pesos mx or $24 dollar and for the Chapultepec Park to Culiacan Street they should not charge you more than $150 pesos, I ate at the Mendl Delicatessen, the sandwiches were tasty, breakfast at Maque cute and old fashioned they charge me $46 dollars one person, I love tacos and Tacoarte was so good, you pay one drink second free , tacos al pastor my favorite. I visit the Anthropology Museum of Mexico, and the Castillo of Chapultepec, they were amazing and unique only cost you $95 pesos mx each.

I was pleasantly impressed with Mexico City. Its people are very kind and respectful, and very proud of their roots, they know their history very well, and feel proud ot it. Despite the large number of inhabitants, it is a very clean city, and very well preserved. Their food is fascinating, I loved the tacos al Pastor from El Tizoncito, and the churros with chocolate.

First time staying in a boutique hotel and it was such a lovely experience. I'm so glad we canceled our Airbnb and booked with Hotel Villa Condesa instead. The staff were really friendly and kept the place so clean. Overall the place was so cozy and welcoming. We even spent one evening drinking wine on one of the outdoor patios in a thunderstorm cause we were so comfy...how can you beat that? If you're staying in Condesa and want a unique accomodation that's easily walkable to some amazing restaurants then book this!

We had a very pleasant stay at the Hotel Boutique Villa Condesa. There is nothing we can really fault. All the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The location suited us perfectly and we were able to walk to most of our destinations, not one moment did we feel unsafe, day or night. Breakfast was delicious, fresh and options to choose from. Our room had all the facilities we've needed, comfortable bed, AC, lovely spacious bathroom with shower. If we stay in Mexico City again, we will definitely stay here again.

Everything. Fabulous little boutique B&B. Staff was courteous, friendly, helpful and pretty much always available. The breakfast is excellent, made fresh and delicious. The room was spacious and comfortable and there were plenty of places in the hotel to sit down and relax, have a coffee, read, or whatever. Coffee and fresh lemonade are available all day. Excellent location in the heart of the Polanco shopping district with plenty of excellent restaurants nearby. Nice location for walks in the morning.

Comfortable room with all usual facilities you can expect from a 4 star hotel. The best location connected to the airport, made our checkin process for morning flight the next day a breeze. Literally was less than a 10 minute walk to the checkin counter. Hotel is old but it wasn't as bad as I was expecting from the reviews. It was actually clean and comfortable enough for one night. Service was friendly and facilities were perfectly adequate, for the price it was very good.

great location. a couple blocks to the reforma and zona Rosa. lots of restaurants and bars right outside the door, and yet when in your room it was a lovely peaceful refuge. also, we never heard our neighbors through the walls as you often do in hotels. The best thing about this Hotel was the location. I was in a great area and close to lots of bars, restaurants and coffee shops etc. The pool area on the rooftop was nice, great place to chill out, however the pool was ridiculously shallow.
