What's to say?
What's to say? Hiroshima is a shocking reminder of what we are capable of doing to each other. Let's hope we don't forget its lessons. Drawings of the bombing by the survivors , on display in the Peace Memorial Museum, were especially moving.Guest review byMichaelUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Okayama is a great city to stay in if you want to visit nearby places like Hiroshima and Naoshima. The hotel is great, convenient, and comfortable. Close enough to the main transit hub -- I would stay here again.Guest review byRachelCanada - 10.0

Only spent one day at the end of our trip which was enough to basically shop and wander the historical area which I think is the main attraction anyway. Beautiful, scenic, clean, historic. And we loved Yoshii Ryokan in the heart of it all. Definitely worth a visit.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Fantastic scenery and food.
Fantastic scenery and food. Check out the beaches to the North but don't worry about the local mountain lookouts. They were all atrocious one lane roads in bad condition which only took you 3/4's of the way up the mountain which was then followed by your needing to walk another 1000 steps or more to get to the top. Good if you want the cardio but terrible in the middle of summer.Guest review byStevenAustralia - 10.0
Tottori city is small but packed with experiences.
Tottori city is small but packed with experiences. I recommend: Warabekan - Toy Museum; Jinpukaku Mansion (closed until 2029 but still a beautiful place to visit); Tottori Castle Ruins (the park has great city views) and UNESCO Global Geopark - Tottori Sand Dunes. The crab dishes are delicious!Guest review byAnaIgnat1313Japan - 10.0

It does get busy during the day when lots of tourists come over by ferry for the day however we hired bikes and managed to stay clear of the crowds for the most part. The Island becomes very quite in the evening which is perfect, I would advise that you book a restaurant as lots of the island closes around 5-6pm so anything that is open later gets booked up. We were very lucky to just get the last free table on two occasions. Also the deer wandering around especially in the dusk and evening before al the ferries drop off are enchanting, however they are not like the deer in Nara park and there are lots of signs that remind people not to feed or bother the deer, not everyone follows these rules which is disappointing.Guest review byDonnaUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Because I got in late from doing the big bike ride over from Imabari, I was left with little time or energy to explore Onomichi. However, I did do some of the temple tour in the morning and it was excellent. I recommend taking the "ropeway" (I'd call it a cable car) to the hilltop and work your way down. I'd love to come back and explore more of this interesting little town.Guest review byVaytwTaiwan - 10.0

It’s a little off the main tourist route, which is why it’s worth a visit. In November the weather was great. It was easy to visit the castle and grounds and a bus trip to Tomonoura was great way to spend the day. A little fishing port famous for being in films and again not too busy. In Fukuyama a visit to the Clock and auto museum is like entering an Aladdin’s cave of wonders. It’s full of the past and not just cars and clocks. Lots of small owner run restaurants as well.Guest review byCostelloeCanada - 10.0

The staff in the front office were very helpful and full of smiles to greet exhausted guests considering its our first time in Japan. Hiroshima , was the saddest place I visited but thanks GOD I did come to feel and witness where the horrible bombing ,which I only hear and read in books.I cried and nightmares of the photos in the museum. I wish to be back and stay longer.Guest review byBella ViluanUnited States - 8.0
We chose Okayama as a base for trips in central Japan...
We chose Okayama as a base for trips in central Japan because it is a stop on the shinkensen line. We bought a 7 day Sanyo-Sanin pass for about $150 and took day trips to Hiroshima, Kyoto, Naoshima (art island), Onomichi, Inujima, and Takahachi. Okayama itself is a charming modern city. Just about everyone rides a bike. Because it is not a tourist hub prices very reasonable. $500 for a week in a nice hotel with free breakfast, adult happy hour drinks at night, and an onsen. Restaurants were very reasonable. $15 will get you all you can eat and drink at a sushi restaurant. $10 for the best tonkatsu dinner outside of Tokyo. Although the city was flattened during WWII, some nice attractions remain. The Korakuen gardens are beautiful and overlook the Okayama castle. Kurashiki is 15 minutes away with its historic district built around a canal.Guest review byPaulUnited States
