Kingussie is a lovely little town in a beautiful setting in the Scottish Highlands. Beware, most cafes and shops are closed on Sundays and some on Mondays too! We ate at The Star Hotel which has friendly staff, good food and is very popular with locals and holidaymakers alike. Not a place I have thought of staying before but it was a lovely but short stay. Everything was above what we expected and we could have stayed longer and ventured to other areas close by and probably will stay again. KIngussie is very easily found by train or car being on the mainline from London to Inverness and the A9. It is a pleasant small largely 19thC town with friendly helpful residents happy to chat in "Sugar Bowl" one of the coffee shops, and Joes Chippy (est 1949) for battered haggis supper and tea. It has a Post Office/General Stores and a sizeable CoOp for a town of its size. There are various hotels & bars too. It is well positioned for walking, cycling and activities in the mountains near by. My one regret was not hiring a car.Guest review byJulian - 10.0

Currently being refurbished so only 4 rooms being used at the moment, but our room was brand new. Amazing comfy bed. 100% super clean everywhere. Restaurants nearby for dinner, but we were invited to use the lounge for our own drinks. The owners/ hosts showed us exceptional hospitality - so friendly and welcoming and absolutely nothing was any trouble. You could not find better anywhere in Scotland.
