FAQs about hotels in Vienna

Waltz Through the Pretty Streets of Vienna

Previously the center of the Hapsburg Empire, Vienna is the current center of Austria’s culture, economics, and politics. Visitors may think they are in a museum as they walk through the historic first district, but Vienna also has a youthful and dynamic side with lots to offer.

St Stephens Cathedral in the Inner-City is surrounded by the Ring Road, with grandiose buildings like City Hall, the Austrian Parliament, the State Opera House and the Burgtheater. Enjoy the city where amazing musicians like Mozart, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms, and Mahler once lived. If you’'re visiting during the carnival season, practice your waltzing skills at one of Vienna’s 200 glamorous annual balls.

Visitors can wander around beautiful park grounds in the Wiener Prater and Schonbrunn Palace provides imperial and extravagant grounds to stroll through. After exploring, eat with the locals by enjoying famous sandwiches at Trzesniewski, a Wiener Schnitzel at Cafe Central or taste traditional wines at the city’s many Viennese pubs.

Vienna International Airport is the doorway to the heart of Vienna. Booking.com has luxury hotels, charming bed & breakfasts and modern apartments to meet any accommodation needs for your stay in Austria’s capital.

We enjoyed Vienna with our kids – the museums, excellent public transport, and beautiful weather (August 2025) made it a great cultural experience. It was a wonderful way to show the children the well-organized system of a once great empire.

Plenty to see and do in Vienna.

Plenty to see and do in Vienna. We particularly enjoyed walking the streets around the historical quarter and enjoyed watching the horses in action at the Spanish Riding School. The National Library is worth a visit. Perhaps the gardens at Belvedere underperformed and were below par with what one would expect for a national treasure

Viena is a beautiful clean city. It really amazed me. There is history behind each place we went and especially the Saint Steven’s Church is espectacular. There are several eateries and and places to stay. We had no trouble riding the metro which is easy to understand and follow.

Vienna is a very walkable city, and feels very safe for solo travellers (I stayed in the city centre so I can't say for the outskirts). It's also very clean but sometimes the smell from the horses (and their poop), especially when it's hot weather, is quite strong. There are many many eating options, for every pockets and tastes although I'd say is more on the expensive side, even if they give you huge portions so maybe it balances it out (I consider myself a moderate eater but I honestly couldn't finish my meals, so big!!). The best and most fun option is the market in front of the Rathaus (city hall), lots of options from all over the world, affordable and well organised (only in July and August). The tap water (from fountains etc) is quite good, perfect for refilling. I went to Vienna mainly to visit museums (entrance is on the pricey side), and luckily they are all close to each other so I just walked everywhere. The Kunsthistorisches museum is worth every penny, even just for the building itself, glorious (allocate at least 4 hrs, even more) but the Sisi museum was a bit of a let down, especially the way the visit is constructed at the beginning, dark walls, narrow corridors, quite claustrophobic, especially in summer (not recommended, someone actually felt ill).Albertina was quite charming as well. Churches also worth a visit, especially if free. Overall there's so much to do and see that a short visit won't do but Vienna is a must see anyway you can.

Vienna is one of those cities that I truly love.

Vienna is one of those cities that I truly love. It is not only beautiful and elegant, but also incredibly well-organized and welcoming. Every time I visit, I enjoy walking through its historic streets, exploring the museums and cultural landmarks, and spending time in the cozy cafés that give the city such a unique charm. The atmosphere feels both peaceful and inspiring, and there is always something new to discover, whether it’s art, music, or simply a quiet park to relax in. For me, Vienna is a place where I feel at ease and inspired at the same time. Of course, it can be a bit expensive, but the experience it offers makes it completely worth it
