The description of the Boskerris Hotel is accurate but far too modest. However, its rating on this site of “Superb 9.3” is entirely justified and indicates that other guests have also been pleasantly surprised. Besides the superb accommodation, magnificent sea views, quiet location and friendly, efficient staff, the hotel also has few hidden gems. The restaurant is superb and would compare well to any other top-class restaurant. The dining room is tastefully decorated and is perfectly arranged for that intimate dinner for two, with candles included. But what makes this restaurant so good is the chef, who elevates the experience to one of “fine dining”. Another hidden gem is the Carbis Bay train station which despite its proximity, can hardly be seen or heard from the hotel. It only takes a few minutes to arrive in St. Ives and the return trip for two people costs less than 2 hours of car parking – if you could find a space. Only a few minutes in the other direction, the station of St. Erth, which I’d never even heard of, has connections to all parts of Devon and Cornwall and even has a fast train to London. But why go anywhere else when the beach at Carbis Bay is as good as any other with fewer people and no dogs. It’s very difficult to imagine how anyone could be disappointed with this hotel.

The room felt like a studio apartment—high ceilings with plenty of natural light, stone walls gave the room character. Air conditioning was great. The room had a very comfortable bed, a great shower, and a wonderful terrace for the continental breakfast that was included in the price.

Location is amazing, right on the beach. The pool was excellent -- great temperature, had a hot tub and sauna all with views of the ocean. The gym was serviceable, and the staff were all very congenial and helpful. Breakfast was very good, and the deli down by the beach was great for getting less expensive food and drinks that we could take up to the pool or the beach. They also have 2 EV chargers that we utilized. It was very quiet as well.

A few years since we last visited and it has changed.

A few years since we last visited and it has changed. Seems to have lost some of its local charm and large parts of the town are now holiday lets, so I did not see many 'locals'. Plenty of choices for food from bistros to old fashioned pub grub. We ate at the Union pub in Fore Street on 4 nights and had something different each time, Every time it was lovely. Used our bus pass to go to Penzance for the day on a Saturday. Was told that it may have been better to go during the week when the markets were on.

It was our first time in St Ives and we really liked the relaxed feel of the town and how pretty it was in its natural seaside setting. There’s a strong creative community and the art galleries and shops are good. There are some classic English seaside town pisspoor eateries, but there are also some real gems that are well worth seeking out, if your budget allows. Walking through town in high season is tricky, it’s packed, but Carbis Bay is just nearby, go there for some peace and a spectacular beach.

    It's a lovely, quiet town.

It's a lovely, quiet town. There's plenty to see and more than one beach to spend time at. It's a very clean city, which surprised me. I walked around with my wife after 11 p.m. and felt safe, even though I didn't encounter a single police officer. It's worth the trip; it's a beautiful, clean city, and the people are courteous and friendly.

We like St Ives and visit at least once a year.

We like St Ives and visit at least once a year. It has great shops, bars, restaurants, coffee shops and beaches. Its not cheap, food and drink can be expensive if eating out and this year we found it difficult to cater for all dietary requirements. We had a good meal in the Beer & Bird and also the Firehouse. We like the Cornish Bakery for a cuppa and cake. Yellow Canary do a good gluten free pasty. Harbour Fish and Chips is always on our visit list. We generally travel to St Ives by train which is easy, which is great as long as you don't have too much luggage. The streets can be crowded in the summer and are narrow so would avoid using a car at this time of year. Out of season its easier to use a car. The train is good for visiting other places - we went to Penzance and Mousehole and enjoyed a wander.

Porthminster beach was great, Carbis Bay was a short walk along the cliffs and was also great. There's plenty of restaurants to eat in and shops to buy gifts and artisan type shops for something different. The harbour is lovely and is the main focal point for the town. We ventured out a couple of times visiting the Minack theatre which is well worth visiting also Bodmin Jail was very interesting I'd recommend booking a tour to get the most out of it. Penzance we didn't think much of it isn't that nice there but if you go farther round to the next bay you will find Mousehole which is really cute. We also visited Kynance Cove which is beautiful be sure to go when the tide is out !!

The location is absolutely stunning and the hotel and spa is 5* The staff were very friendly and welcoming. They went above and beyond to make our stay feel special. We had a gluten free breakfast hamper delivered to our cabin. The hotel deck is the perfect place for a cocktail and so is the Ugly Butterfly restaurant and bar. Carbis Bay train station is a short walk and for £1 you can see more of the beautiful coastline as you ride along into St. Ives.

It was clean, we stayed in a ‘gold’ pet friendly chalet - I think ‘gold’ is a little misleading. Functional, clean, warm - could benefit from a plug air freshener you can smell dogs (but to be expected in a dog friendly accommodation): The site was clean, the woodland walk was nice, the staff were welcoming, pizza nice from restaurant. Location good as a base for exploring Cornwall. Carbis Bay beach stunning.

We liked the atmosphere of the hotel. Great leisure facilities, spa etc which you don’t have to book a slot for and all included in price. The terrace area is a lovely touch. Very close to the train station. Beautiful views of Porthminster beach. We had a Deluxe Sea View Room with balcony which was amazing. Breakfast in bed for £3 charge was excellent value for money. Staff very attentive. 100% will return.
